I was wondering from what plane the slaadi are from in this setting.
i have been reading the cauldron campaign and in the end to go to *spoiler* plane and i was wondering what it could in the FR and what could be the slaadi home plane too.

The same as in core: Limbo.

Slaadi are from the plane of The Supreme Throne in the FR cosmos.

There is no Limbo in the Forgotten Realms cosmology, although there are many portals, gates, rifts, connections, and links to Greyhawk's Great Wheel cosmology, which makes travel fairly easy between the two.

It is generally thought that the Slaadi who live in the plane of The Supreme Throne originally came from Greyhawk's plane of Limbo over on the Great Wheel, and Ed Greenwood has said as much.

You got to accept the Tree to give this answer, Gray. ;)

Limbo and The Supreme Throne are the same place, so you're both correct. :P

You got to accept the Tree to give this answer, Gray. ;)Cauldron is actually located on Oerth in the Greyhawk campaign setting. Greyhawk uses the Great Wheel cosmology. The poster already knows what the Great Wheel answer is, because that answer was given in the adventure.

Mantacorp was asking what the correct FR equivalent would be in the canon FR cosmology. According to the Players Guide to Faerūn, the Slaadi inhabit the plane of the Supreme Throne. I was simply answering the poster's question.

I think people who come to these boards with questions about the Realms deserve honest and straightforward answers to their questions.

But not all posters on these forums are as happy with changes being made in their world as others might be.

Not always are the changes made done by Brainiacs with a real deep sight of what constitutes the world of Fearuhn in multiple versions of any players who love and cherish the world from their point of view.

hope that was readable... :plotting:

Edit:
And therefore not all people will agree on the straightforward answers that sometimes seem so simple yet so out of context, in the view of said poster then of course.

Limbo and The Supreme Throne are the same place, so you're both correct. :PInteresting! Well, if you are saying what I think you are saying, then that would be very intriguing news indeed! :thinks:

As we all know, Cyric only recently took over the plane of the Supreme Throne in recent years after he was kicked out of the Fugue Plane. He renamed his new plane his "Supreme Throne", envisioning it as the seat from which he would one day rule the cosmos. Of course, the plane had to have been named something different as late as 1368 DR before he took over. I have long speculated that the plane was once called Limbo, but there is no lore to back that up (unless you count Rich Baker's adventure Prison of the Fire Bringer back in Dungeon #101 that mentions that Bazim-Gorag came from Limbo.) Iakhovas would seem to be confirming this speculation.

Of course, being an antediluvian shark god, Iakhovas is definitely the one to ask questions about planar history. ;) I should have thought to ask him sooner. He obviously has the ear of many wizards who live along the shores. Perhaps if I pray to Iakhovas for the next dozen tendays or so, maybe he will bless me with answers to more of my planar history questions.

Thanks for those answers !
I didn't play AD&D2 myself, but it is true that the core (aka old planescape) cosmology is quite different from the 3rd Ed FR one. That being said, i don't there is any canon thruth what so ever. Ultimately it is the GM and player to decide what is correct in their world.
As for me i like to know the "official" answer because adapting things if i feel like it.

that brings me to another question : what FR new cosm plane would best make for the carceri plane. As there isn't any prison theme plane in FR, i am puzzled. My own guess would be either supreme throne or barrens of dooms and despairs.

I believe you'll find that you and I see eye to eye on a great many things Gray and a few of these may even see print.

My own guess would be either supreme throne or barrens of dooms and despairs.Supreme Throne is more of a plane of madness. It makes a good stand in for Limbo or Pandemonium, but not so much Carceri, although it might do in a pinch.

There are several planes however that would make a good substitute for Carceri:

The Barrens of Doom & Despair is one. It has many of the harsh environments found in Carceri, including swamps (Talona's realm), crimson deserts, jagged mountains and chasms, a cold region (Loviatar's & Hoar's realms).

Fury's Heart might also work as a Carceri replacement. It has a lot of hostile environments and things that want to eat you.

If you want a claustrophobic plane that feels like a prison, you might like the underdark plane of Deep Caverns or perhaps the duergar plane of Hammergrim. I think Hammergrim might best reflect the wending catacombs of Piranesi's Carceri etchings (http://www7.nationalacademies.org/arts/Piranesi_Muniz_Images.html).

Are you looking for a specific environment, or more of a foreboding "feeling" of imprisonment? If so, please let me know and I could point you to several locations that might be suitable for what you are shooting for.

Assuming that you're going to use 3e FR's planes: I'd use the Barrens of Doom and Despair, and just make Carceri I subset of that plane. Of course that substitution would invalidate the origins and backstory the Demodands, and some other things which might make the adventure suffer.

That said, you'll probably be much better served by just including Carceri within the 3e FR cosmology.

Actualy i had the shackled city campaign in mind. so i wanted to keep the feeling of the carceri plane relateive to the stories.
