| AlphaShard11-13-07, 12:27 PM | I wanted to know if there is a source book that would list the stats for the Kelemvor Paladin. I am not sure if Faiths and Pantheons would have it or not and I'd have to order it to find out. I just want to make sure I get the right source book, the description for Faiths and Pantheons seems to be for Clerical orders. I've always liked the idea of other Faiths having a "Paladin" order even if they are not called that. For instance I consider the "Spur Lord" preistige class to be Cyric's Paladins. |

Well, in the source book Champions of Valor, there's a paladin order dedicated to eradicating the undead called The Eternal Order. They have 3 paladin substitution levels and you must worship Kelemvor. Futher more, Paladins of Kelemvor may multiclass freely to the Doomguide found in Faiths and Pantheons. The Doomguide is the only Kelemvor specific PrC found in the source books to my knowledge but I did create a Initiate of Kelemvor Feat: Initiate of Kelemvore Your are inducted into the deepest secrets of Kelemvore's church Prerequisites: Paladin 4th level, Chosen Deity: Kelemvore Power Granted: May turn undead as a cleric of the same level. Bonus Spells: 1st- [I]Hide from Undead 3rd- Speak with Undead |
| Zireael11-19-07, 09:14 AM | I think the Doomguide really goes along with it. |
| The_Shaman11-19-07, 09:48 AM | I'd say yes, but iirc it requires LN alignment. If you could make a LG version that advances paladin casting and has full BAB, it'd be great. As it is, you're better off with the CDiv sacred exorcist. |

I don't remember who exactly sayed this, but some designer posted a while ago that a paladin of Kelemvor may multiclass freely as a doomguide while keeping LG alignment. So, the alignment restriction of the Doomguide CHANGES to Lawful Good when multiclassing with paladin. Sorry for not having any link to confirm this, but this was said by a designer (maybe Eytan Bernstein, but not sure). |
| The_Shaman11-19-07, 08:14 PM | If that were so, it would be quite good. I think the PrC could bear having higher BAB and/or hit die - advancing a paladin progression is not nearly as good as advancing a cleric progression, so +3 BAB or +1 hp/level is a fair compensation. |
| Avatar of Kokusho11-23-07, 10:26 AM | Generally, the Doomguide class is best, and I would allow a paladin of Kelemvor to take the class and remain LG. The main thing is the spell requirement- the spell required to qualify isn't a paladin spell. I suggest a few Hunter of the Dead levels to get that requirement. |
| Alkasyn11-27-07, 05:14 PM | Well, FRCS says they cant multiclass freely, but seeing as the universe is ours to tackle with, I'd also agree that Paladins of Kelemvor should have the option to become Clerics of teh same faith. After all, they're still serving the same God, aren't they?? |
| The_Shaman11-27-07, 08:25 PM | Well, it's not such a big change to house-rule. Then again, given how some orders are allowed to take on cleric levels and others are not, it may be that a Kelemvor paladin is not supposed to moonlight into the clergy as well - and if they do, it's a sign of disrespect for their deity to turn back from it. |

Yea, but seeing as Kelemvor is a reasonable guy, I don't see any reason he'd forbid taking cleric levels. It's propably like this only because someone thought that the game needed more varied paladin orders:P |
| The_Shaman11-29-07, 07:34 AM | Well, he doesn't actually forbid it - otherwise a paladin/cleric wouldn't keep his paladin powers. He's just no more tolerant of such hybrid practices than most other deities. Being LN is a tough habit to shake, I guess ;) . I myself don't know why it's such a big thing for paladins and monks not to intersperse levels; the only explanations that make some (a little, tbh) sense is that the training to advance in levels requires the approval of the order (i.e. they have to petition the deity for more powers or some such) or that since most deities "call" on people to become paladins, the deities are the ones who decide how far the chracter will sponsor the character on the paladin path and if s/he needs another set of abilities. |
