| TuLginZ02-13-08, 12:32 PM | Hey i have been playing dnd faerun for a while now, and i bought the book where you can read about the gods etc (think it was called "faiths and patrons") Anyway, in that book there is a lot of divine casting orintated prestige classes, and i would love my druid to become a forestmaster (it requries Silvanus as your deity) My question to all of you is: Have you tried any of the chamionps of faith prestige classes, and if yes how did it affect your caracter/game any comment is welcomed, thanks :) |
| TuLginZ02-13-08, 12:35 PM | oh jees sorry for spamming :( |
| Lord Karsus02-13-08, 04:12 PM | -They're Prestige Classes. They're not different/better/worse than other Prestige Classes. |
| SATA02-13-08, 05:25 PM | The book is Faiths and Pantheons and like LK said, they are like any other Prestige Classes. The only thing is that those prestige classes, lore-wise, grant the PCs or NPCs some prestige within the church in which they are involve because they work as the specialty priest from 2e and some even remains with the same names if I remember correctly. |
| TuLginZ02-13-08, 07:20 PM | Well i got the the 3,5e books, so wouldnt know about the 2e(i started playing DnD at 3E). But i wasent thinking in the lines of better or worse (compared to other prestige classes that is) I was thinking of how you invovle the church that much in your game and for the specific character. Since that might be difficult, fx the forestmaster class description says something like "they often dwell in the forest but are more than capable of joinning a party" so my question would be if you guys found them suitable for a Pc to play :) But thanks for the responses so far anyway |
| Diffan02-13-08, 07:33 PM | Well, if your playing 3.5 then you might want to tweak a few of the requirements for some of the Prestige Classes in that book (mostly skills). I think the PrCs in that book are pretty well balanced and should be fine for any of your characters to play. The only one I have problems with is the Doomguard. In Champions of Valor they state that Paladins can choose the Doomguard for a PrC, but the requirements don't fit well. You can easily change the prereqs or do what i did and create a Initiate of Kelemvore feat which helps the pally into the class. As for their involvement with quests, as long as it is towards a goal that is accepted by the Deity, it shouldn't be a problem and the church/sect can aid you at times as well. |
| Lord Karsus02-13-08, 07:36 PM | Since that might be difficult, fx the forestmaster class description says something like "they often dwell in the forest but are more than capable of joinning a party" so my question would be if you guys found them suitable for a Pc to play :) But thanks for the responses so far anyway -They wouldn't make a Class/PrC that was impossible to actually use. ;) -As a DM/Player, it's your job to come up with a good reason why this Forestmaster, for example, is joining the party. |
| SATA02-13-08, 08:50 PM | Well I see, and besides what have been said so far, I want to add that is up to you how much a certain church is involve, but if it is, in this case the church of Silvanus, then the clergy will treat you with great respect and will see you as a guide. And if it is easy or not to play? well it depends on the style of the campaign. Every PrCs is playable but not everyone is suitable with a certain campaign, like, is difficult to play a Dread Pirate being in a desert, for a simple example. Of course, I said difficult, 'cuz in reality it can happen but for a mission perhaps, after that he/she will want to get back to the sea. So in conclusion, if the style of the campaign seems to fit, then good it will be a piece of cake, if not, still you can do it just with more work. |
| TuLginZ02-15-08, 03:38 AM | Thanks, that was the kinna comments i needed :) next time i'll try to be a bit more on point with my questions. And btw sata not to be rude but since you corrected the name of the book for me, i'll correct you :) Silvanus with and I not an Y ;) well guys again thanks for the quick responses, it cleared some things up for me P.S diffan is it the "doomguide" from Faiths and patheons ur talking about or is it another prestige class? |
| Lord Karsus02-15-08, 04:36 AM | P.S diffan is it the "doomguide" from Faiths and patheons ur talking about or is it another prestige class? -I'm 95% sure it's in Faiths and Pantheons. I believe that was Kelemvor's PrC. |
| TuLginZ02-15-08, 08:55 AM | yeah its just that he said doomguard so wasnt sure if i it was the same class we were thinkin' about |
| Diffan02-15-08, 10:57 AM | oops, it's called Doomguide. My fault :embarrass. The Doomguide is Kelemevore's cleric/paladin prestige class in Faiths and Pantheons Hope that clarifies everything. |
| Lord Karsus02-15-08, 11:00 AM | -Looks like Diffan is going to get 5 lashings, now. ;) |
| TuLginZ02-15-08, 11:29 AM | haha naah i just wanted to make sure it was the same class we were talkin' about. 'Cus i was lookin' at the doomguide and wondered why it was so ill fit for a pala :) |
| SATA02-15-08, 12:06 PM | [...]And btw sata not to be rude but since you corrected the name of the book for me, i'll correct you :) Silvanus with and I not an Y ;) [...] LOL it's ok, thank you, and sorry if I was rude or something, I just correct it in case that someone else look at the thread and get a little confuse looking for a book that don't exist, but thanks no problem at all.:D Edit: I fix it. |
| Diffan02-18-08, 10:28 AM | -Looks like Diffan is going to get 5 lashings, now. ;) :ahem: I do wonder what a lashing would feel like though..........:thinks: |
