Tiefling level adjustkments? [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-13-07, 09:15 AM I am sorry for not knowing this already, but I am having some problems with the level adjustments with a tiefling character I am generating. The campaign requires us to start at 3rd level. And I would like to be either a wizard, or a rogue. I might even take levels in both once figure out this adjustment thing. I figure since the tieflings level adjustments is +1 I basically would be a 2nd level tiefling wizard instead of a 3rd level wizard. Do I have this right? Or is there something more to it?

Yes.

Your XP denotes your Effective Character Level (ECL), and vice-versa. If you have 3000 XP, you are ECL 3.

ECL = Racial HD + Class Levels + Level Adjustment.

05-13-07, 11:18 AM Im sorry but the optimizer in me is coming out for a short visit. If you have rogue in your charecter build, and I am assuming you do and your going for an Arcane Trickster type, then its best to take it at 1st level for the skill points, as long as its relevent to your character story that is. And if you do play an Arcane Trickster dont forget to pick up Practiced Spellcaster from complete arcane. And yes you would start as a Rogue1/Wizard1 with 3000 xp, needing 6000 xp to reach to level 3.

05-13-07, 11:26 AM Arcane Trickster.. very cool PrC. I've always wanted to run a gnomish arcane trickster / illusionist. It just seems like a natural fit.

05-13-07, 01:26 PM Thank you very much. I think I have it all cleared up now. And I know I should start off as a 1st level rogue for the skill points! I will most likely go with the tiefling rogue 1/ wizard 1

Hehe. You're really big on running nekked characters, eh? Me thinks you should change your profile's local to "nuddist colony." ;)

05-14-07, 11:10 PM I recommend using Daggerspell Mage (Complete Adventurer) as a way of getting into Arcane Trickster.
