| Majick02-07-08, 01:13 AM | Hey guys, long time lurker, first time poster :D Just a question that i hope someone can help me with: I have been reading through the Sandstorm splat book and found the race Crucians to be rather interesting and have been considering playing one, but the problem is i don't know if they even exist in Forgotten Realms  If anyone has any information either pertaining to specifics involving the Crucians in the Forgotten Realms or a reference that states i can at least use them or something, please please please let me know ;) Thanks everyone |
| Old Sage02-07-08, 03:24 AM | Crucians have not been referenced anywhere in existing Realmslore. They exist only as an "introduced racial option" for FR campaigns as presented in the Sandstorm tome. Thus, you're largely free to determine where you wish to incorporate this particular race within the Realms. |

| The Ubbergeek02-07-08, 03:40 PM | Anauroch the accursed desert is always an option for such weird beings... Or this purple sands place in Mulhorand. |
| BadCatMan02-07-08, 07:17 PM | Everything deserty gets dumped in the Anauroch. :) I suggest the Plains Of Purple Dust or the Raurin Dust Desert. They are much more desolate and distant, while a lot of the stuff from Sandstorm loosely pertains to there: the Egypt-stuff, the Touchstone sites. Plus they've rarely been covered, so squeezing in a Crucian is easy. |
| Lord Karsus02-07-08, 07:26 PM | -Calimshan, Mulhorand, the Raurin Desert and the Anauroch desert are all viable places to place them. |
| MarkusTay6302-08-08, 10:48 AM | And let us not forget the ever-popular Quoya, just north-east of the Raurin. ;) Don't know the history of the Crucians, but there is at least one fallen civilization there - Tsharoon. Also, they appear very similar to Kappa, an Oriental Monster, which are found in nearby Kara-Tur. And if you want to play one, but your DM doesn't want it to be from anywhere in Faerūn, then say it's from Zakhara. |
| The Ubbergeek02-08-08, 04:21 PM | An option may be the eastern wastes... Is there a Taklamakan-like/Bactria-like desert area in the Hordelands? That region is severely not very detailed, and it's an option for exotic/new stuff. And so huge. |
| MarkusTay6302-08-08, 04:44 PM | As I said above, the Quoya would be perfect, given it's almost total lack of canon lore and it's proximity to the similar Kappa of nearby Kara-Tur. ;) Map including the Quoya (http://candlekeep.com/images/sitegfx/mt-hordelands.jpg) That one is slightly outdated - I've added in the stuff from Dragon #349, the GHotR, and Desert of Desolation, and I'm hoping to have the new one complete by tonight. :) |
| The Ubbergeek02-08-08, 06:16 PM | Good stuff. |
