| Grandmaster_Kane04-22-07, 07:30 PM | they stop existing |
| PharaunMizzrym04-22-07, 10:06 PM | I doubt they trded all of their soul, as they would then have the same problem as the Kir-Lanan with resurrection. They most likely join Shar like any other deceased member of her worship. |
| Exploit04-22-07, 10:26 PM | Shades are outsiders therefore they do not have a separate soul and body (see outsider type description). Their body and soul are the same thing therefore nothing happens to the shade. It's body/soul remains where slain until either someone casts a Revive Outsider (or similar magic) or their body/soul decays and is forgotten. |
| PharaunMizzrym04-23-07, 12:35 AM | I believe there may be exceptions to that rule, the shades being one of them as they are still basically mortal (not having died and not being terribly different from how they were before becoming shades). For instance, outsiders aren't supposed to be able to be turned undead, but its happened on rare occasion. I also believe the books say that they may be resurrected normally. |
| Shemeska the Marauder04-23-07, 10:18 PM | Shades are outsiders therefore they do not have a separate soul and body (see outsider type description). Shades are native outsiders. They retain body/soul duality just like other native outsiders such as aasimar, tieflings, etc. As to the original question: they die and leave a dusky looking corpse. The flavor text about 'trading their souls' is a bit awkwardly phrased, and it's probably more appropriate to say that they might pollute their souls with shadowstuff in a manner that predisposes their soul to a particular end when they die, or that to become shades they bargain their souls to Shar or another such deity/being and when they die, their souls are automatically claimed as much as if they'd made a pact with an archfiend. |
| The Ubbergeek04-23-07, 11:35 PM | As my guess - the random token Shade end up iN Shar's hand, of course.... They are her pawns. in a way. |
