If it isn't against the CoC, you're not allowed to post it anyway. At least not until they move the topic to the Classes forum. |
| SolenVlos08-16-07, 06:53 PM | are you guys sure it's against the CoC? I can't say something like clerics of X-god usually prays like Y, using Z rituais, they believe in that, that and also that, although they despise that other thing. they role in society is A, B, etc and etc? |
| The_Shaman08-16-07, 07:24 PM | Who can tell me more about both the Priestess of both Eilistraee & Lolth? I could use all the information that I can get! Er, both, like what they share in common? The demographics, for one thing - you can expect both to be almost exclusively drow females. Lloth is dead set on this, and while I've heard that the Dark Maiden may accept a male as a cleric, that would be a rather rare occurence to say the least. Also, non-drow (and normal drow for that matter) can find both to be somewhat... disturbing. A priestess of Lloth is an imposing nature to begin with - nearly all drow consider themselves the superior race, and the priestesses of Lloth consider themselves likewise superior to all other drow. Probably more than even other clerics (including of deities such as Bane or Cyric), they do not accept any challenges to their authority, ecclesiastical or secular - as, unlike many cultures, typical drow cities tend to be run by the clerical caste. On the other hand, priestesses of Eilistraee might be among the most tolerant and humble drow (not that that is saying much, given the average drow's lack of these virtues), but the combination of unusual, drow and cleric usually prompts others to give them a wide berth. Some of the rituals and practices of the cult, likewise, can seem somewhat disconcerting to casual onlookers. By necessity, you can expect both kinds to be skilled in intrigue - it is an important part of drow society, especially for those who either want to rule it or to remain different - and alive. Of course, among the two, the clergy of Lloth will probably show much more skill at this. On the other hand, the clergy of Eilistraee is remarkable for their overall physical fitness - probably on par with those of Lliira or Sharess - and their fencing skills. The rest of their habits are relatively easy to predict given their deities' respective dogma and positions, which you can find in F&P. Spiders, dancing, etc. A quick look at Faiths and Pantheons (respective deities and prestige classes), as well as the books already mentioned (Underdark, Drow of the Underdark, FRCS, possibly PGtF) would imo be the best idea. For more information, seek Zanan. Chances are, if it's related to the drow, she knows it. Particularly hard topics may need to be researched at the Candlekeep website. |
| Zanan08-20-07, 04:34 AM | Vendui! Take a look at the list, scroll down to the bottom and check the sources (if available) listed there. Drow NPCs of the Realms (http://www.dnd-gate.de/gate3/page/index.php?id=420) Main resources are ... Demihuman Deities The Drow of the Underdark (the AD&D book!) Menzoberranzan boxed set Underdark Novelwise War of the Spider Queen I - VI Sacrifice of the Widow (Eilistraee; Lady Penitent I) Daughter of the Drow (Eilistraee; Liriel Baenre Trilogy I) Homeland (Lolth; in the timeline, the very first Drizzt novel) If you need more info, you now know my name ;) Edit: Them Eilistraeens hunt naked ONCE a year and occasionally dance semi- or fully naked in moonlit glades.
