Has anyone some information on the other Dragon Ascendant in the realms (although hes only lvl 3)? Whats his relation to Tchezzar? I find it a bit strange that there are two Dragon Ascendants in such close proximity to each other.

And a related question, how many realm specific divine advantages and restrictions (like "Can only be killed by another deity, someone sponsored by a deity") do you think apply to Dragon Ascendants?

Maldraedior is rather obscure, but quite interesting. He's a philosophical sage of a blue dragon, NN/NE rather than LE, and the last remaining worshipper of Kalzareinad, a dead or near-dead draconic deity of magic.

He lairs beneath Dalath in Unther, and is the focus of a highly secret cult amongst the locals. The people there worship him as a god, while Maldraedior really only wants to revive Kalzaereinad. This is known only to Maldraedior however.

Maldraedior is introduced in the 2nd Edition FR sourcebook Draconomicon in the "Millenium Dragon" adventure, and is mentioned in the "Cliffs Of Karthaut" adventure in Dragons Of Faerun. Dalath is described, sans cult, in Old Empires. It's rather strange he didn't get properly mentioned or updated more fully in DoF, and frustrating that the dragon index didn't include DoF itself.

I doubt Tchazzar knows that Maldraedior even exists. Mal's operation is under complete secrecy, and if Tchazzar did know, he would have attacked Mal already.

Based on the only two known cases of Dragon Ascendants in FR, and the 3.5 Dracomicon description of the class, I suppose that the process requires a fair bit of personal philosophy and self-discovery (for Maldraedior this is evident, for Tchazzar I impose Chessentan cultural themes on him). It also seems to require a cult of worshippers (to become a god, of course). Deific sponsorship may be required: Tiamat for Tchazzar, Kalzareinad for Maldraedior.

Secrecy may also be paramount, if only to protect that would be Dragon Ascendant from rivals or those who would seek to stop him. The class description says that "they view travel along the path toward divine ascension as a race, and do not choose to share the road with others on the same course". Tchazzar was famous, but faked his own death and wasn't seen or heard from for centuries until the ToT. Maldraedior is highly obscure and secretive.

In the future, I imagine that Maldraedior might come out of hiding, as he'll need to spread his cult beyond one small town if he wants to get anywhere. He and his cult will pop up right in the middle of Mulhorandi-occupied territory. They could liberate Unther, and Maldraedior will gain a massive influx of worshippers amongst the Untherites. A war with Tchazzar will occur, who'll seek to stop Maldraedior.

If Maldraedior survives and successfully becomes a quasi-deity, then he might revive worship of Kalzareinad amongst the dragons, become a god himself and replace Kalzareinad, or be absorbed by a reawakened Kalzareinad.
