| Yokinobu07-11-07, 03:09 PM | So for the Merchant Prince(ess) PrC, I believe that you need like 8 or so ranks in Profession(merchant). However, in the DMGII, that isn't listed as a skill is needed for running a business. Therefore, you also need ranks in said skills. I'm confused about this. Is "merchant" it's own kind of business? Are they using that term loosely to mean any kind of business owner? I was under the impression that merchants sold merchandise. Unless the term "merchandise" technically can include combat training, lodging, ect. Does anyone have some insight on how the designers were trying to make this PrC work? |

| Yokinobu07-12-07, 02:52 PM | Really? I don't have access to my Power of Faerun book(its across the country from here), so I couldn't just check on that. I don't remember seeing that, because I didn't pay much attention to the business section, it seemed irrelevant to my playing style at the time. However interest in business has grown on me IRL, so I thought it might be fun to play a character who was like a financial benefactor to the rest of the party. Does the book have a chart on that type of business like there is in the DMGII? |

You'll find it p67 in the Play the Market chapter, in a sidebar on the bottom of the page. A very good business venture (a triple high : costly to set up, but potentially the most highly-returning), with the same (broken, in the sense very badly designed) format as the DMG2's. |
