06-18-07, 06:29 AM I've started playing in a campaign that focuses on the Sword Coast. I'm thinking of playing a Xeph (XPH), however, Player's Guide to Faerun does not list regions for them. I'm wondering, what is a good (as in plausible) region for a Xeph. As I said above, I'm playing in Sword Coast, however, any region is okay, as long as it follow's Forgotten Realms social and cultural patterns for a Xeph to be in Sword Coast.

06-18-07, 07:02 AM Well, Xephs have never been mentioned in any official Realmslore. Hence they're not in the PGTF.

The Sword Coast area offers an interesting option however. Baldur's Gate is known for its explorers, with expeditions from there setting off to such far-off lands as Sossal, Maztica and Anchorome.

I think Anchorome would be good. There's very little known about it, so you could slap anything there. What is known is that there are wild elves and thri-kreen (another XPH race), and a colony of Flaming Fist mercenaries from Baldur's Gate. Your Xeph might have met up with the mercenaries, joined them in some capacity, then travelled across the sea to Faerun.

06-19-07, 08:02 AM If your character has been raised in the Sword Coast since childhood, just use the Sword Coast region.

The Player's Guide to Faerūn does give the exemple of a gold dwarf raised in Suzail who should use the Cormyr character region.

06-20-07, 01:05 AM We may see a write-up for Xeph in the Realms in one of the future Class Chronicles articles on the site. Have you seen the most recent one for psionic races?

06-20-07, 05:54 AM Sorry to disappoint you guys, but xephs won't be included. With the exception of the elan (which we've have been considering implementing in the Realms for a while), all of the races I discuss already had a foothold in the Realms. The article was meant to be a complete source of information regarding the existence of psionics (races, classes, history) in the Realms. It is classified as races and classes because the race section ended up being rather large. Unfortunately, there wasn't room to cover all the psionic races from the XPH - perhaps in another column somewhere down the line.
