| Drizztrocks05-23-07, 09:50 PM | This is an adventure starting idea: The old weopon smith of waterdeep was found dead in his quarters, holding a piece of parchment with mysterious runes imbedded in it. I thought maybe something could be made out of this.:) |
| PharaunMizzrym05-24-07, 01:33 AM | Do you want them to be magical runes? Are they in an identifiable language? Those are two of the most important questions. |
| CuttinCurt05-24-07, 07:24 AM | Another question to ask is "Why would be PC's care about this particular old weaponmith?" |
| Drizztrocks05-28-07, 07:11 PM | Another question to ask is "Why would be PC's care about this particular old weaponmith?" That's a good point. Maybe one of the pcs was related to him or was sent to buy weapons frrom him, then thought it horrible that he was dead. Is that easier to add on to?:D |

Perhaps they were seeing arguing with him shortly before his murder. Perhaps its your party's rogue who has made an enemy in the guild, etc |
| CuttinCurt05-29-07, 05:29 PM | Nice addon Merrik. Perhaps we should find out if this is an ongoing campaign or a starting new one. That makes a difference with the past of one of the party members. If there is no past that supports the retribution of another faction, then perhaps a relationship to the accused of the murder is the best way to go. It has a time frame to accomplish the investigation in, the tenseness of death awaiting an (supposedly) innocent man. Perhaps a twist is that the PC's manage to figure out a way to get the accused off before he or she is hung, and then they find out after the death of the one they managed to implicate, that the one they got off was actually guilty. That would be very interesting indeed. Can you imagine what good pc;s would have to justify in their minds to over come that grief. (if there is a paladin in the group, then he would lose his paladinhood for this). that can prompt new adventures for him to regain his paladinhood back. If there is a negative result for getting the guy off and you use this option of the accused actually being guilty, then make sure you give the pc's the chance to figure out that the relative is guilty before the hanging, or allow for the failier of proving him innocent not be a negative for the story line completion. Give xp for both situations. And it gives the Paladin pc a chance to not lose his paladin hood. You cant just take it away without giving the pc a chance to figure it out. Either way, you have one great end result. The pc's will have some serious emotional issues to overcome wether the guy gets off and reveals his true actions, or he is put to death with the pc's thinking he is innocent. Great stuff either way. I like it better the more I think about it. CC |
