MindCrusher 03-25-07, 06:48 PM	On page 64 of the underdark FR book, it describes a weapon that is basically a handcrossbow w/o the bow . First question, is the descripton a typo about the weapon holding 3 darts at a time. because on the following page the image of it doesnt show it able to hold three bolts at a time. Second, should it be a martial weapon or an exotic weapon, because it seems to me alot like a handcrossbow without then need for an extra feat (exotic weapon feat is needed to use a hand crossbow.)
The Ranger 03-26-07, 10:45 PM	I'd go with what it says it the book (and not ask too many questions). That said, I'd balance it out by making it a hard-to-come-by weapon. It's a deep gnome weapon and I doubt they hand them out to any fool who asks. As for it being better than a hand crossbow, I suppose being able to fire 3x a round is pretty good. But you can do the same thing with the rapid reload feat at higher levels with a crossbow. And there are ways to become proficient in hand crossbow besides taking it as an exotic weapon proficiency. You could be born a drow (who get proficiency for free regardless of class) or take a level in rogue (it's a class weapon for them).
