Dmg for Oversized weapons (and Armor) question [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-22-07, 05:35 PM I understand that weapons are made for certain sizes. Thus a greatsword made for a medium sized creature does 2d6. Large 3d6, Huge 4d6, etc.

Does plate mail give the same AC no matter it's size? For example Plate mail sized for a medium creature gives the same AC to a medium creature as Plate mail sized for a large creature worn by large creature. Or can it be thicker, thus increasing it's AC?

10-22-07, 08:02 PM AC doesn't increase with size (tiny and smaller creatures only get half as much protection from armor though). Larger armor may well be thicker, but in D&D armor doesn't so much absorb hits as it deflects them, and since AC is more a factor of the relative cover the armor gives to your body, a hill giant is no more protected by full plate than a human is.
