| The Ubbergeek11-13-07, 03:10 PM | Okay... here I am. I have a cleric of Eilistraee - granted, not tabletop (I am a coward who fear the outcries from drow haters, so I would never unless with an open group :( ) but more free roleplaying and NWN things. But anyway... Are there any official texts on weapons of the clergy of Eilistraee (the bastard swords and perhaps other), or in fact any other magical items tied to the Dark Maiden? If not, what would you suggest, fellow D&D players? Could always be helpfull, even if not in her hands. |
| selunatic239711-13-07, 03:30 PM | All that I remember in first edition was the singing swords...I have the stats for the if you want them...but I kinda think you were asking for stuff from 3.0/3.5... |
| The Ubbergeek11-13-07, 03:51 PM | If possible, yes. However, fluff also. |
| Suin Bahhar11-13-07, 04:26 PM | They could be silvered bastard swords of dancing and singing +3. The singing ability i'll let Selunatic convert ^^. These are pretty powerful though, maybe 200.000 total cost. The dancing enchantment costs +4 by itself and the singing one has a meriad of defensive and offensive abilities worthy of +3 enchantment or better. |
| selunatic239711-13-07, 06:02 PM | The singing swords showed up in the code of the harpers sourcebook back in 93. They were +3 silvered bastard swords, some were sentient and aligned cg, but most could be weilded by any beings capable of lifting them. The singing abilities were similar to the 1ED Bardic singing ability... the sword sings constantly...when ever it is drawn. the weilder was infused by confidence and never needed to check morale the weilder was immune to charm, command, confusion, fear, forget, friends, repulsion, scare, and suggestion. if emotion was cast on the weilder the only emotion would be rage[at the spellcaster]. the song can still shreikers in one round, and negate the song effects of harpies, it can enthrall intelligent beings of 2hd or less[not including undead or extraplanar creatures] such enthralled beings are slowed for 1 to 2 rounds after first hearing the song the must save versus spells or be subject to a suggestion[as per the spell] from the weilder. In the sourcebook the seven sisters, out in 95, Quilue got a special singing sword that she could summon to her hands from an extradimensional space. Here it mentions that the singing has a 60 foot radius range. It also says that there is only about two dozen or so of these singing swords and they were a gift from Eilistraee herself to Quilue and her playmates when the were just kids and battled the oozes and such of Ghaunadar...this battle seems to have been under Waterdeep and her goddess told them to make a stand there and be ever vigilant against Ghaundars return. The dancing ability seems to have been added in 3.0...I remember reading about it but , as a 1ED DM I do not have those sourcebooks ...:weep: The books are firm that the singing can be stilled by either a silence spell ot a bard singing a counter harmony. I do reccomend getting the demihuman dieties sourcebook for it's section on the worship of Eilistraee, but sadly its probably long out of print. I hope that I have helped you in your hour of need! :) |
| Suin Bahhar11-13-07, 08:03 PM | Great lore on the "childrens blades" of the dancing maiden. To 3.5 um I would give it: MoonAura(Su): Immunity mind affecting spells except emotion wich invokes rage at the caster Moonsong(Su): Grants the weilder the countersong ability equal to half their character level or +2 whichever is higher Lesser Enthrall(Su): Creatures with fewer than 2 Hitdice must save vs will(dc10+halfcharacterlevel+cha mod) each round or become slowed. When already slowed and failing a second will save they become susceptible to suggestion as the spell at the end of the round. |

| Zanan11-15-07, 04:12 AM | Their last AD&D description was TMK given in Demihuman Deities: Singing Swords XP Value: 1,600 GP Value: 10,000 The favored weapons of priests of Eilistraee are singing swords. Some are sentient and aligned to chaotic good, but most can be wielded by any being capable of lifting them. A singing sword is a silver bastard sword +3 that sings constantly and loudly when unsheathed. When and if silenced, the weapon loses its attack and damage bonuses. Its song makes its wielder more confident, so she need never make any morale checks while using the singing sword. The sword also renders its wielder immune to charm, command, confusion, fear, friends, repulsion, scare, and suggestion. If emotion is cast on the wielder, the only result is rage directed at the caster of the emotion spell. The sword's song also negates the songs of harpies, stills shriekers, and can entrance creatures of 2 Hit Dice or less (except undead beings or creatures from other planes). Such creatures must succeed at a saving throw vs. spell whenever they are within 60 feet of the song or be subject to an automatically successful suggestion from the sword wielder. This suggestion ability functions as the spell of the same name. Note that the sword wielder can enact a different suggestion on each creature affected. Also note that a bard can easily negate this latter power of the blade by singing a countersong. Happy converting. |
| Alac Luin11-15-07, 02:16 PM | I'm not that familiar with this sword, but for 3.X I'd consider it in in the 80-91 percentile in the inteligent weapon chart. which is +5000 GP value +3 which is dependant on the song, which i'd discount to 2000 GP value As for the 3 powers, well the would be replaced by bardic music of a bard about 6th level with 10 ranks in perform (sing). for about another +7000 GP value. I'm looking at a sword worth 14000 to 15000 GPs. Just some ideas (but I don't do intelegent weapons so feel free to disregard) |

In the Goddess Description the favored Weapon is a "Moonsword" (Special type of Bastard Sword) Silver is implied by it being a "moon" weapon, so a Silver Bastard Sword seems to be the base weapon of choice of the Priesthood. |
