| 1 ton ghost08-08-07, 03:13 AM | Obdurium (magic of faerun) is supposed to be super deep core, like lowerdark i guess, and harder than adamantite. is this a FR-only metal? would you need Fabricate to kick off the rough start of an item due to it's incredibly high density/hardness? i mean how do you work/shape something like that? updating it to 3.5 (if they have made provisions for it anyway), would it still cleave through anything w/ a lower hardness like adamantite/provide a similar DR system? ideally, could you have the Pit Spawned template (DMG II) applied to this, or anything not steel (forged in the abyss by a native-the prereq. for the temp.)? i guess that goes for all metals and template applications. thoughts, ideas? |
| dragonheart08-14-07, 02:22 PM | Realistically this is probably something like depleted Uranium - you shouldn't need magic to work it but you should need special skills and high temperatures etc. Now that things are settling down here (the marriage is done, the guests are gone and the honeymoon is next week) I should be able to ressurect my post on the real world analogs of rare materials in Faerun and how they might translate or be worked/used/equated. |
