| Sol_Odlanier10-24-07, 02:18 PM | I'm making an NPC (middle aged Fighterish ex-Greyhand Enforcer(?) human from Waterdeep) and I want him to have a "tademark" weapon but nothing come to mind, something not popular, sorta obsolete.... |

Ok, go with a sap. If you want a fun "trade mark" weapon go with a harpoon. Have it attached to a chain then have that attached to a crank with a locking mechanizm. Throw your harpoon, real them in and whack them in the head with an axe or hammer. |
| Phelf_Der_Zemit10-25-07, 01:06 PM | Try a Claw Bracer, or saber, or cutlass, somehting specific to the forgotten realms. |
| Sol_Odlanier10-25-07, 01:28 PM | Both ideas are great! I can REALLY see him witha harpoon (since there's alot of fishig going on in Waterdeep) and a saber as a secondary weapon (since this is FR after all):D Thanks;) |

He isn't by any chance going to yell "GET OVER HERE!!!" when he reels the Impaled victim in...is he? |
| Suin Bahhar10-30-07, 10:08 AM | An ex gray hand and city official, aye? Have him have the some weapons as from the city guard armory. A nice crowd control bludgeon, the city guards rod (masterwork club), can make a nice backup weapon. Short swords, long swords, cutlass or sabers are also hanging in the wooden racks of the city guards armory, as are pikes with reach, crossbows and javelins. Harpoons are broken and in my games their impalement ability only works on creatures two size categories larger than you. |
| Passivearmada11-02-07, 11:38 PM | What are sabre stats? I know Mr. Entreri used to have one before he got Charon's Claw. |
| CainJustice11-05-07, 02:32 AM | i like kukris myself |

| tim120hawkins11-06-07, 08:45 PM | Hardly anyone uses pole arms any more. I would go with a halberd or something akin. |
| DMD11-06-07, 10:35 PM | The 3.0 Fighters Guide whose name is escaping me right now had some pretty interesting weapons. The Mercurial Greatsword was pretty nasty I think 2d8 but needed exotic weapon proficiency. Chains are nice. Lotsa stuff can be done with spiked chains. |
| Reneshat11-07-07, 01:18 AM | Spiked Chains lack the old-fashioned feel. I really, really like the idea of a halberd. Pole-arms have a very old-fashioned, slightly outdated feel to them, but they are far from useless. Moving slightly away from your character, I always like the halberd/armor spikes two weapon fighter, with Spinning Halberd Style, from Complete Warrior. Effectively 3 weapon fighting. |
| DMD11-07-07, 10:45 AM | I like Polearms too but when an opponent closes in they are really not very effective. |
| Muddman7211-07-07, 04:21 PM | As far as polearsm go, take the Short Haft feat from Players Handbook 2, allows you to use a polearm at 5' and back to a reach weapon again as a swift action. So I run up, smack you from 10' away, you 5' adjust and attack me thinking I can't hit you, then suddenly I adjust my grip and hold the polearm closer to the head and BANG, gotcha :) As for a good weapon, try the three section staff. Statisically kind of crappy and requires an exotic weapon proficiency to use but it gives range, can be used at 5', has a x3 modifier and (watch Jet Li's Fearless) its cool to see :) |
| JPDeed11-08-07, 10:04 AM | Going along the polearm/harpoon feel, how about a Duom, from Sword and Fist - it's a reach weapon, a large polearm with two backwards facing blades, that can be used by someone proficient to hit people in close range - and not only that - 1st round of comabt gets a bonus +2 to hit in this fashion due to suprise of the tactic. |
| Passivearmada11-08-07, 08:22 PM | There's a weapon in some book (or you can stat it out yourself) that's a sword on a stick, but you can disconnect them to have a longsword and a quarterstaff. And is a sabre just a longsword nickname? If it's not, can I have the stats for one? |

I'm not saying it doesn't exist, simply that I haven't seen it in any books. |
| JPDeed11-09-07, 08:06 AM | Sabre is statted in FRCS, doing identical damage/crit as a longsword, except that it is stated that it is +1 circumstance bonus to attack rolls when mounted, and weighing 4 lb and costing 20gp. |
| DMD11-09-07, 10:32 AM | I like that short haft feat. I will have to use it. Thanks. |

I'm Pretty sure is in Oriental Adventures and/or Swords and Fist. Thank you all for all thhe ideas I was planning to do a NPC but i might as well make a whole NPC party |
| GoldDragon11-10-07, 12:51 PM | Ooh, Ooh,ooh A special Bola that not only can be thrown to hold or trip escapes but can be used like a 3 headed Flail in Mele. The Heads can also be changed out between smooth (for minimum damage), Spiked with or without seep holes and reservoir (cause extra piercing damage, inject poison, acid, etc), or even Explosive (for throwing only of course) |

| GoldDragon11-14-07, 08:41 AM | I like Polearms too but when an opponent closes in they are really not very effective. That is when you push the Button so the Halbard turns into a 1/2 Spear in the off hand and a Axe in the Main hand Thats what this stupid Halbard I got from Bud K does anyway  |
| Kaede11-25-07, 06:11 PM | boomerang.... |
| GoldDragon01-14-08, 03:55 AM | boomerang.... Trained Falcon looks cooler and Scares the hell out of most of it's targets You "throw the Falcon" at the target and it bites and claws for a few seconds then flies back to be "thrown" again. |
| Darak01-15-08, 08:28 AM | mouth darts (poisoned :D ) + mercurial bastardsword. net + maul... whip + spiked gauntlets. or some other combinations. you're welcome. |

How about a weapon designed for Gaurd duty there? Specialized weapon -------------------------- 4 Feet of "Silver Steel" shaft "Silver Steeled" Pomel with a Holy water sprinkeler triggered by button on bottom. Making a called shot with a "butt attack" with the Pomel not only does silver damage (if any) but projects one vial of holy water (or whatever is in the Pomel) on the hit target a "Mantis jaw" blade on top that has the "Eversharp" spell on it that, when making a called shot, Beheads the target undead (fatal to some undead...and living creatures with head too) a "Silver Steeled" and "eversharp" Axe off setting the Hammer Head specially shaped to cut through toughened bone and mummified flesh always granting silver damage (if any) and a possibility of severing appendages or a torsel in half on Undead (living too) A "Silver Steeled "Hammer head on with a "disruption" Rune on it's Face that has a 70% chance of destroying All forms of undead on a hit. |
