I know Iaijustu Focus is a skill from the OA campaign setting book, but I was wonder how to incorporate it into FR. Should I just squeeze the skill at the bottom of the character sheet? Or should just use the Sense Motive skill as a replacement and remove the extra damage die feature?

I ask this in the hopes that the 4E Forgotten Realms will include some Kara Tur goodness.

As any other skill (and feat) you could certainly use the skill if your DM says so.
The point is however that Iaijutsu Focus is a 3.0 skill and it's still unclear if it is still valid in 3.5
As to 4e i suppose that s too early to say anything.
When History Of The Realms will become a "common" book the attention towards Kara Tur will rise again and we will discuss the matter extensively.

If you want to contribute you are welcome; there s a thread in the archives called Kara Tur Re Dux (or something like that) where Markustay63, me, Lord Karsus and others discuss the various matters (mechanics and lore and everything concerning that).

So we are waiting you in that thread ;)

Realistically Iajitsu should be converted to the Quickdraw feat If you want to give it a bit more power then make it a second feat requiring quickdraw first and then have it remove dexterity bonuses to AC for the victim since it is essentially a SURPRISE ACTION - a free action AoO as if in a surprise round.

The Iaijutsu Master PrC already has a similar system in place and requires the Quickdraw feat. I'm just wondering whether I should just replace the Iaijutsu Focus skill with the Sense Motive skill or should I just squeeze Iaijutsu Focus at the bottom of the character sheet.

I'd say it's usable. However, as there aren't iaijutsu duels in Faerun, its use might be somewhat diminished.

True, but I am running a campaign where a player is a Shou Expatriate who wields a Katana. But I found a book that allowed a player to use Sense Motive in a manner similar to Iaijutsu Focus, without the extra damage and free combat action. Although I allowed the surprise round anyway.

I think the book was Complete Adventurer or something, I really can't remember.

The player wanted to use Iaijutsu Focus to determine an opponent HD and level.
