| altec_seeker01-26-07, 01:26 PM | I was wondering if anyone would happen to know if there are any stats for the bracer Jarlaxle uses when he starts tossing daggers all over the place. Thanks |
| Red_Wizard01-26-07, 02:36 PM | I always treated it much in the same as Cattie Bries quiver. I seem to remember there never being millions of daggers laying around at the end of varied fights, which makes sence for the suggest answer. Basically the daggers return to some manner of extra-dimensional space shortly after being thrown, and the bracer is potentialy created in the same manner as a glove of storing, in that you only have to say, or will the item to appear. |
| Melblen_Cairn01-26-07, 03:02 PM | It's actually gives more info in one of the short stories Salvatore wrote (i think it was one of the short stories). Entreri and Jarlaxle are sparring of sorts and Jaraxle sends several streams of daggers at Entreri. After the fight some of the daggers remain in the cloak and others simply have dissappeared to which Jaraxle explains that some of the daggers are illusionary. |
| altec_seeker01-26-07, 03:07 PM | Ok I saw a item bonus that did that made 2 extra daggers but sneak attacks only worked with the real one... anyone know where I could find it maybe? |
| Muddman01-28-07, 12:12 PM | I think I saw it as a scabbard of returning that also stored up to five daggers. It just so happens they are +4 (or +5) distance daggers. What happens is that the weilder tosses them and they appear back in the bracer at the beginning of the next round. I like the idea of using the stats for Cattie Brie's quiver. Makes more sense to me. |
| Jarllaxle01-28-07, 07:26 PM | I like the idea of using the stats for Cattie Brie's quiver but here are the stats for Jarlaxle's bracers.:king: Bracer of Throwing Daggers: This bracer is able to generate up to five +4 Daggers of Distance per round, if the dagger is not thrown by the end of the round it vanishes. This bracer does not take up an item slot. Source: Created by Joseph Weber, based on material from Menzoberranzan boxed set. Strong Conjuration, Divination, and Transmutation; CL: 16th; Craft Wondrous Item, Clairaudience/Clairvoyance, Greater Magic Weapon, Major Creation; Price 184,000 gp |

Perhaps not though, Jarlaxe dosen't seem the type to volunteer such information to his potential eventual rival. |
| Melblen_Cairn01-31-07, 06:01 PM | I believe it was in "Wickless in the Nether" by R.A. Salvatore from the Anthology book "Realms of the Dragon". Check it out for the low down on it. It could vary from encounter to encounter if he is used as an NPC and has enough time in between. He has many dealings with his associates in Braegan D'Aerth and swaps out much of his magical gear for identical ones with different properties to keep his friends/enemies from getting to know his assets too well. So the bracer could easily be different on seperate occassions. |
| Zanan02-02-07, 02:51 PM | Jarlaxle was fully statted for AD&D in the Villains' Lorebook. In there, the bracers are listed as holding five +4 daggers of throwing. They worked somewhat differently back then, of course. If there's need to recreate them, one would obviously need to change the real throwing daggers into returning ones and have these bracers create a few illusions as well. Obviously, one has to be able to be fooled by these illusions to become susceptible to any "damage" by them. |
| Highlander375103-26-07, 11:12 PM | The new Magic Item Compendium has a Gauntlet of Infinite Blades (page 101); It creates unlimited normal daggers, although the daggers disappear 3 rounds after they are created. It also has 5 charges per day that can be used to create a small number of daggers with various bonuses. On a related note, the MIC also has an eyepatch (Corsair's Eyepatch, page 90) that, while not as powerful as a certain drow's, is see-through to the wearer, and provides different bonuses depending on whether you wear it over your left or right eye. Maybe there is a reason for all the switching Jarlaxle does, after all. |

I'm sure he's just using more powerful versions of these items. |
| scatode04-13-07, 04:18 PM | doesn`t one of Jarlaxles' daggers elongate into a long sword/rapier in one of the books when he pulls it out of the bracer? |
| Tarus04-13-07, 04:45 PM | Actually, he elongates two daggers into long swords. I would assume any dagger he pulls out can have that happen. |
| BelainDefenderofJerusalem04-13-07, 05:20 PM | probably a function of the bracers and not the daggers themselves |

| Puritan1304-15-07, 04:24 AM | Lets not forget that when Jarlaxle and Entreri were sparring, Jarlaxle had the Crystal Shard in his possession. The Shard is most likely the source of the illusionary daggers. |
