Magic Armor Assistance Request... [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-21-07, 04:43 AM Hello ladies and gentlemen. I have spoken with a few other people that I highly value as knowledgeable item crafters, but I am still having a problem figuring out if the armor that I am wanting to craft would fall into the epic item catagory or not. And the price of crafting a suit of armor with the abilites that I am about to list... how much would it cost? Any assistance that you, my fellow colleagues of the boards, could add would be greatly appreciated. My thanks for your time.

+4 called mithril full plate of the solar (I pulled the name from the ring of solar wings in the Book of Exalted Deeds. I am wanting the armor to act as said ring, but activate on a command word rather than the donning of the armor).

I believe if the cost exceeds 200,000 gold pieces it is considered epic.You are correct about the price. My question is... how much would my armor cost to build (or buy) as it is? Do I take the price of a ring of solar wings and just add that to the price of the armor, or do I use a different formula?

05-22-07, 05:13 PM Normally you can add special and non related abilities to things for 1.5 times the cost of the original.

This 200k thing, is that in the EPH, for some reason I have it in my head that it only applies to the +'s on weapons and armor, and not on the actual price. there are plenty of Magic Items out there whose list price is greater than 200k.

Or is the whole point that to make such an item you need the epic version of the feat? I like that option, it puts some real oomph into some non-artifact magic items like Keryivian.

Yeah I was of the same thought too clobberin, just because its 200,000 doesnt nessasarily mean epic, or so I thought.

Didn't you hear about the sword Eldysteel is currently packing!?

Also, everyone is presently working on crafting epic gear for later, at least on paper and seeing what works for them.

Again, thanks for all of the help with the armor. I really wasn't too sure about the whole 1.5x for the ring's effect. Where is the 1.5x thing listed at?
