| Calmar10-13-07, 11:27 AM | Hi. I am a bit puzzled how the creation requirements for magic items are determined. Is there information somewhere or a table somewhere that shows how to do it? Pricing usually is no problem for me, but I do not really get how you find out how strong the magic of an Item is, or what caster level is required to create it. PEACH the following magic weapons to show me the mistakes I might have made: The Dreadful Flail (+1 heavy flail) Moderate transmutation; CL 5th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, cat's grace, magic weapon; Price 3,665 gp; Cost 1,833 gp + 147 XP; Weight 10 lb. Winter's Kiss (+1 frost longsword) Moderate evocation; CL 8th*; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, chill metal or ice storm; Price 8,315 gp; Cost 4,258 gp + 333 XP; Weight 4 lb. * that's copied from the description of the frost-enhancement; I wonder why it is 8th and not 6th, since SRD says: Creating a magic weapon has a special prerequisite: The creator’s caster level must be at least three times the enhancement bonus of the weapon. If an item has both an enhancement bonus and a special ability the higher of the two caster level requirements must be met. Thanks for your help :) |
