So, as the title suggests, are there any Relics for any FR gods?

Spefically I am looking for an Ilmater Relic for a theorhetical back up character for a current game.

I've looked through the MIC, and for the life of me I cannot find anything.

Thanks for any help you guys can give.

You won't find any FR items in MIC, as they're not core.

Dragon #333 is the only location I know of for "official" FR relics, which cover:

Bane
Gond
Ilmater
Kelemvor
Oghma
Shar
Sune
Tempus
Torm

Ilmater's relic is basically an item that allows the wearer to be reborn and cleansed of all ailments.

The prayer books in Prayers from the Faithful are relics in the usual (if not in the D&D) sense.

I also think there might be something in the Champions of Valor dealing with the Triadic Knights, (illmater being one of the three), that might help you.

I dont have the book infront of me, but I remember something in there. It might be a place of power, but for some reason I am thinking relic.

What, non for Mystra? Considering how often Mystra has died there should be enough availiable body parts to make at least one relict.

There is "Midnight's Thong", which was stolen by Cyric and later recovered from his fortress when Kelemvor took over the 'dead' portfolio.

I'm not really sure what it's 'powers' would be. :D

;)

Her body is the Weave.

Yes, but before she became Mystra she was only wearing a Weave, hence the former Mystra's confusion when choosing an appropriate receptacle for her power.

<ears perk up> Do tell, what is Gond's relic?:)

Gond's relic is a bottomless bag of smokepowder. 5 lbs. per tenday, but must be used within an hour or disappears, also gain Fire Resist 20 against smokepowder explosions

Methinks that Menzoberra's Dagger is also a relict, yet probably more so on a sentimental basis than in-game facts. It was carried by the founding mother of Menzoberranzan (i.e. Menzoberra's Home) and was returned to Lolth by the hands of - you guessed it - one boy called Drizzt do'Urden. (Realms of the Underdark)

can't you convert many of the relic weapons found in the core products to faerun's pantheon?
Dielzen

04-29-07, 11:19 PM
You can for quite a few, yes, Pelor to Lathander, Ehlonna to Mielikki, etc.

But while Core has 10ish gods, FR has over 100, so it's still a bunch of work.

And while I haven't looked over the ones in CDiv/MIC, the ones in this Dragon article are rather....useless. Giving up a feat & a spellslot to get some of these items is a tad much.

For instance, the Ilmatar one -- If I were a truly devout of Ilmater I'd *want* to die, and either be reborn as a Risen Martyr (see BoED), Saint (BoED again) or go reside with my god and reap the beenfits of my servitude. I surely wouldn't want to be returned to life in the same manner as before.

Course, this is why I ban Raise/Reincarnate type spells from players in my games and make them "by request" only and depending on the GODS involved will determine the outcome, not "Oh, I can cast 5th level cleric spells, no more deaths!"

Are there any guidelines around for designing Complete Divine relics? I recall what was said about them in there was really quite vague.

I have a character who will be taking the True Beliver feat for Pious Templar, but I can't find a decent relic for a worshipper of Oghma.

I am curios about the Sune one. Did it have any connection to the Sash of Sune that was in Prayers of the Faithful?

i believe there is a relic to Tyr, in the pirate isles,

i believe it is a shield, and it is on one of the islands, in a ruined tower.

can no remember what it does though,

it should be in the 2nd edition( old book) pirate isle book.

As I search my memories, I seem to recall a hammer that was a relic of Tyr in the pools series.

These relics have no connection to the items in any of the 2e resources, and are (as I mentioned earlier) mostly junk compared to what you lose (Tho I must admit that I'm not all that familiar with relics, so maybe they're all junk)

Sune - Ring, +2 sacred bonus to Cha and some initial attitude adjustments, one of the few decent ones IMO

I'm sure this will be overpowered, compared to other relics, but taking a feat to use one ITEM should be a decent item, IMO.

(this is an actual "spellbook" in the Prayers from the Faithful 2e book, converting it into a more appropriate item for 3e, using a minor artifact from the 3e Underdark book for inspiration)

This holy book takes the form of an ornate metal key of everbright silver.
It is 2 feet long, has large loops for handles, and sports a thick barrel
marked with numbers from 1 through 26. Touching a number has no
apparent effect, but if the tip of the Key is later touched to any solid, relatively
flat surface (such as a wall, door, tabletop, floor, or shield), a table of contents of
a single book from the roster of the Key of Faith
appears on that surface, slowly inscribing itself in unobtrusive letters of dull black
that appear, glowing mauve in darkness. The writing does not harm the surface, and silently
fades away 24 hours (144 turns) after materializing, leaving no marks or magical traces behind.

Any nonmagical book can be placed in one of the 26 "slots" of the Key, to include a spellbook. Note that having a minor enchantment of preservation on a book will prevent it's inclusion. You can add/remove an entire book from the Key as a standard action.
Should a book not contain an actual table of contents, the Key will attempt to create one (such as a spellbook that lists each spell by level then alphabetically.

In addition, the Key may be used to identify one item per tenday.

Makes a good "library on wheels" as well as being able to impart the knowledge of one item/tenday.

Not going to bother figuring out pricing/etc, but as a rough guess as to a spell slot it would cost, I'd say 6th or 7th (figure level for feat-taker as appropriate, 11th or 13th)

As part of an Underdark / Drow themed game I took part in some time ago, there were a few high powered relics created, to wit:

Mantle of the Stalking Spider [Relic]
Price (Item Level): 33,750 gp (16th)
Body Slot: Shoulders
Caster Level: 20th
Aura: Strong; (DC 25) transmutation
Activation: -- and standard action; see text
Weight: 1 lb.

This heavy, dark spidersilk cloak is crafted with a deep hood, and clasped at the neck with a ruby-eyed adamantine spider. Every once in awhile, the clasp's legs appear to twitch, pulling at the weave of the fabric.

Woven from the silk of fiendish dire spiders, bebilith demons, or other abyssal arachnid creatures, this cloak is a great boon to adherents of the Spider Queen. If you are neutral evil, chaotic evil, or chaotic neutral, the cloak provides a +5 competence bonus to all Hide checks. This effect is continuous and requires no activation.
Relic Power: If you have established the proper divine connection, a mantle of the stalking spider also grants a climb speed equal to your base land speed, and the ability to move freely through spiderwebs. In addition, as a standard action you can throw a web up to eight times per day, to entangle a target of up to one size larger than you. Doing so requires a ranged touch attack that provokes an attack of opportunity, with a range increment of 10 feet and a maximum range of 50 feet. If the web hits the target is stuck in place and considered entangled until it can break free. The DC of the Escape Artist or Strength check is 10 plus 1/2 your Hit Dice plus your Constitution modifier; there is a +4 competence bonus to the Strength DC.
To use the relic power, you must worship Lolth and either sacrifice a 5th-level divine spell slot or have the True Believer feat and at least 9 HD.
Lore: It is unknown when the first of these mantles were created, though various rogues, assassins and rangers in the service of the Spider Queen have found them most useful. Bards and other lorekeepers point to the first mantle originating from shortly after the founding of Menzoberranzan, perhaps made by the Kinless herself (Knowledge [religion] DC 20).
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, Sanctify Relic, spider climb, web.
Cost to Create: 16,875 gp, 1,350 XP, 34 days.

Mask of the Stalking Spider [Relic]
Price (Item Level): 39,600 gp (17th)
Body Slot: Shoulders
Caster Level: 20th
Aura: Strong; (DC 25) transmutation
Activation: -- and special; see text
Weight: 1 lb.

This mask is forged from adamantine, engraved and inlaid with angular, blackened mithral filigree and set with eight cabochon rubies, resembling the head carapace of a spider. The mask appears to cover the wearer's face from hairline to just above the mouth, and two large stylized fangs jut from its lower edge.

Those who hunt prey in Lolth's name desire to emulate her chosen creature, and this mask allows its wearers to emulate the predatorial aspect of the spider's perceptions and attacks. When you wear this mask, you are able to see invisible creatures (but not ethereal ones), provided you are neutral evil, chaotic evil, or chaotic neutral. This is a continuous effect that requires no activation.
Relic Power: If you have established the proper divine connection, the blood-red ruby 'eyes' of the mask glow faintly, and your darkvision is extended by 60 feet (if you have darkvision), and you are able to see through magically darkened areas such as a darkness spell or similar. You may also use the mask to deliver a poisonous bite to a victim, with either your natural bite attack (if you have one), or with a grapple check. The initial and secondary damage is d6 Strength, with a Fortitude DC of 10 plus 1/2 your Hit Dice plus your Constitution modifier.
To use the relic power, you must worship Lolth and either sacrifice a 5th-level divine spell
slot or have the True Believer feat and at least 9 HD.
Lore: Like the mantle of the stalking spider, the exact date of this relic's first creation is unknown, but complements the other relic quite nicely. Several drow judicators have been known to wear the mask, finding its powers very useful in their hunts devoted to Lolth (Knowledge [religion] DC 20).
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, Sanctify Relic, deeper darkvision or ebon eyes, see invisible, creator must worship Lolth, 19,800 gp, 1,584 XP, 40 days.

Been awhile since I came up with them; they might be a titch overpowered, but perhaps a good starting point for ideas on how to put your own together, or something to offer drow-oriented players if that's your cup of hemlock ;)

Just a question, but wouldn't the Mask of the Hunting Spider technically be a dinivation effect?
Tethryn Lahralein

05-01-07, 06:45 PM
I forget if deeper darkvision is divination or transmutation, as it's the highest-level possible spell on which to base the magic school. The poisonous bite part, though, would definitely be transmutative.
