Spiked Chain [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-18-07, 08:04 AM For character development, where are spiked chains found in FR?
I'm playing a ninja/psychic warrior that specialises in them, and is currently in The Sword Coast. Since this is part of his past, the travel doesn't really matter, but somewhere nearby would be more preferrable.

06-18-07, 09:35 AM Thats rather like asking where the Swords are in FR, its a weapon, a rare and difficult to master one, I doubt theres much occurance of them anywhere to be honest. Though I would expect areas with a dueling culture to have notables who use it, so Waterdeep is a possibility.

06-18-07, 02:25 PM The spiked chain is an exotic weapon, so it probably wont be available off the rack from most weapon merchants, however it shouldnt be too hard to get one in the big cities, especially those who see alot of trade like Waterdeep, Neverwinter or Calimport.
Worst case scenario you could get a weaponsmith to make one special for you "yes you heard me correctly, i want you to take this here chain and attach some weights to either side of it, then put spikes on all the links".
Love the spiked chain, reach, can be used up close and ads 1 1/2 your STR bonus to damage and doubles power attack investment to damage (2 handed weapon) :cip: :cip: :cip:

06-19-07, 08:08 AM The Spiked Chain is also Kossuth's favored weapon, so it shouldn't be too rare in lands where he's a common patron deity, such as in Thay.

06-19-07, 09:27 AM Well im a dm and big fan of using the drow and there are alot pictures in various books showing drow with spiked chains especially drow slavers

I play a Goliath with large size spiked chain, thats kind of what he did:D
