Tattooed Monk monastery? [Archive] - Wizards Community

One of the players in my FR adventuring company (LE human monk lvl 5, Order of the Long Death) plans on attaining the prestige class of Tattooed Monk (sp?) from Complete Warrior.
I am willing to allow that and I want to incorporate some kind of quest as "test of worthiness" for him to reach that goal.
Now, does anyone of you have some tips for me as a novice DM on how to integrate the Ise Zumi Monastery into the Realms and where to put it? The PCs are in Elturel right now, travelling to Beregost with an in-between stop in Baldur's Gate to complete an errand as part of a previous quest.

03-22-07, 07:55 PM The LE monks of Kossuth (Disciples of the Salamander I think?) specifically mention being big into tattooes. Thay is big into both Kossuth and tattoos, so I might place them there.

I recognize that that is kind of far away from where your game is taking place, but maybe one of the towns your adventurers are traveling through has a Thayan Enclave?

Either that, or a Mulan human who specializes in making tattoo art, probably as a travelling artist.

03-23-07, 04:43 AM Thanks. But if the Disciples of the Salamander are based in Thay, this would make things rather difficult for another player in the party, who happens to be an Aglarondan fighter who hates the Red Mages with a passion...I see, this will require some trickery from my part.

Honestly, I'd go with my advice in my previous post, then. After all, not all Mulan are Thayans and not all Thayans are Mulan.

Any suggestions on how to make it plausible for a tattoo artist to give a monk the additional funky stuff, as described in the prestige class? (Sorry, I'm not the most ingenious person and still rather inexperienced at DMing. I just want to make it right. The thing is, our gaming group simply does not have anyone better suited and/or willing to DM at the moment..)
