| Drath'ri08-02-05, 08:22 PM | i need some ideas for some epic adventures and such for the group im currently running. thanks in advance |
| Berzerker_prime08-03-05, 01:15 AM | 1. Lead party into Undermountain. Start fighting stuff. Continue until Undermountain is cleared. Oh, wait, you wanted something to do at Epic Level, not something to do to get there... 2. Build Prince Lamruil's new Elven kingdom up in the ice. 3. Time travel, change the outcome of the Time of Troubles, the fall of Myth Drannor, or some other earth-shaking Faerūnian event. 4. Go plane-hopping to find deceased PCs! 5. Manifest Destiny in Maztica! 6. Where's the kaboom? There's supposed to be an earth-shattering kaboom? Find it. Prevent it. Or cause it. Whichever you prefer. :plotting: Berz. |
| Salaman08-03-05, 04:49 AM | 7. A few artificers of the old Empire of Imaskar want to free magic of Mystra and Shar. Help them or prevent them from doing it! 8. You have to get a powerful artifact from Larloch and so you have to enter Warlock's Crypt. 9. A crazy wizard opened a nice little portal to one of the layers of the Abyss. Demons come visiting. |
| Scyld08-03-05, 05:17 AM | 10. Stop an army of celestials (and possibly one or more lawful good gods who are more lawful than good) from unleashing Armageddon and bringing divine judgement to the Prime Material Plane. (this one is fun because it's the powers of good trying to destroy the world for a change, but is difficult to do well, as you'll need to really explore the morality of the situation - what if they really are justified in what they're doing? Would it be wrong to stop them from destroying the world and bringing all souls to judgement?) 11. Bring the Bloodwar to the doorstep of the Upper Planes (imagine the Bloodwar spilling out onto the slopes of Mount Celestia). Alternately, save the Upper Planes from the ravages of the Bloodwar, which threatens to spill out into the heavenly realms. 12. Become a god. |
| Kessalin Talira08-03-05, 05:37 AM | On a tangent to the Blood War idea: 13: Someone or something has stopped the Blood War, united the fiends, and brought into being the worst nightmares of the powers of good: Plane-spanning, monolithic evil. Those who haven't joined the fiends are crushed, those that have are subjugated completely. Baatezu officers, Tanar'ri shock troops, and Yugoloth infiltrators... Mix all three for the "special forces" groups. |
| Tokeloshe08-03-05, 03:35 PM | 14 Conquor Luskan, make the Red Wizards dance the can-can 15 Make the red wizards invent and wear underwear. 16 Force the temples of Moander to keep within health codes. |
| Tokeloshe08-03-05, 03:52 PM | 17 A group of highly advanced humans has invaded. They have guns, tanks, aircraft, submarines, air carriers, lazers, space travel and psions. They disaprove of Haalruaa (sp?) and seek to end inequality and the tyranny of the various lords of the cities. The lords have hired you to handle it, good luck. |
| WraithCaller08-03-05, 04:12 PM | 17.) Attempt to kill Elminster 18.) The End-Times are near. You must venture into the Fugue Plain and stop Dendar before she destroys all of existence! 19.) After learning from their mistakes in the past (and future), the illithids band together in a great nautiloid armada and descend upon Faerun, led by a Paragon Elder Brain 20.) You discover a plot among the great evil deities of Faerun to slay Cyric and divvy up his portfolios. A great seer portends that another divine cataclysm, worse than even the Time of Troubles shall result from Cyric's death at the hands of the other gods. You must stop their plans somehow. 21.) A small fragment of Iyachtu Xvim's essence managed to survive his father's rebirth. It has merged with the withered husk of its former body, becoming an Atropal. Now it has journeyed to Faerun, seeking to enslave the Moonsea (and eventually all of Faerun), so that it might gather enough strength to topple its father as god of tyranny. 22.) Shar steals Houndsbane from Mask, allowing him to finally be hunted down and destroyed by Kezef the Chaos Hound. Now, the souls of the faithful are once again in jeopardy from this sinister beast. Legends speak of Jergal, former god of death, creating the hound in a mad rage when he realized that he could not rule over the souls of the dead who did not worship him. You must travel to the Crystal Spire in the heart of the Fugue Plane and pry from this enigmatic being, the true history of the hound, and what can finally destroy it. 23.) After years of appearing and dissappearing atop the heads of many folk throughout the realms, the crown of horns has completed its sinister purpose. Tearing away a tiny fragment of the soul of each of its bearers (many of whom are now Horned Harbingers), the crown of horns now uses its stolen life energies to coalesce into a reborn Myrkul. Lacking any divine powers (no portfolios; divine rank 0), Myrkul goes on a deicide rampage, slaying Velsharoon, Gargauth, and several other demigods. Intending on ultimately slaying and usurping the powers of Kelemvor, Cyric, Shar, and Mystra, the insane Myrkul intends to subsume enough deific powers to become a god-lich and challenge Ao's position as the overgod. 24.) Ghiz'kith, a Sarrukh lich and devotee of Sseth, discovers the true plight of his god and the treachery of the Sarrukh of Okoth. Within months, war erupts among the scaly races of Faerun. This causes great devestation among the Western Heartland, The Vilhon Reach, and the Chultan Peninsula. The PC's must discover the source of this conflict, and bring about an end to it. |
| lavekkia08-03-05, 04:29 PM | 25) a mishaped teleport create your / your party antithesis/nemesis (basically your clone wuth inverted personality) and you must face them |
| Auburn08-03-05, 05:19 PM | #26. Human populations are booming. Restless Thunder Twins in Dwarven kingdoms seek a purpose. Elves are still elves. A persuasive svirfneblim is quickly gatheirng behind him an alliance of of the good surface nations to invade the Underdark and beat back the drow, duergar, and other evil inhabitants once and for all. The Great Crusade is about to begin. The party can either join the Crusaders in their invasion of the Underdark or join the inhabitants of the Underdark in opposing the surface dwellers. |
| Sigurd van Norhusen08-04-05, 01:47 PM | #27 Graz'zt's insane scheme to drag the Crystal Sphere of Realmspace into the Abyss moves closer and close to its fruition: already, Viper Trees are appearing everywhere, the gods become more distant (except for those that already dwell in the Abyss if you use 2nd edition planes), and many wizards are becoming insane due to demonic whispering. Cults of this Abyssal Lord spring up everywhere, as the desperate populace prays to whoever might listen. The situation heats up when Graz'zt sends some of his generals into Realmspace, to speed up the conversion into an Abyssal Layer by all means necessary, before gods, celestials, or other fiends can intervene. Sure, heroes might be able to defend Faerūn, but what about the rest of Toril? And what about the rest of Realmspace? And what to do when Demogorgon's servants retaliate to drag the Sphere into the Abyss, but under this lord's control? Is there any hope between the fronts of a war that is older than even Elminster? (:P) |
| Crust08-04-05, 04:15 PM | #28 I'll give you my current campaign's epic quest: A cabal of archmages and necromancer liches have ressurected the ancient half-fiend necromancer-lord Acererak using a vile rite that actually causes Acererak's form to be reincarnated into an atropal (the undead, still-born godling from the Epic Handbook). The creation of this atropal, along with the workings of this necromancer cabal, have caused a massive surge of undead to spawn up from the bowels of (insert dungeon/ruined castle/dark crypt here). To top things off, one of these archmage/necromancer/lich wizards uses the epic spell eclipse to blot out the sun, allowing powerful undead to walk the lands unmolested by the burning sun. This brings vampire lords, death knight generals, and whole armies of corporeal and incorporeal undead under one banner (don't forget special, advanced undead created by the DM using the various monster books and Libris Mortis). Only when the eclipse spell is dispelled or destroyed will the undead horde fall back and return to the shadows... Unless they are all literally destroyed by the PCs, which could be quite an undertaking. This cabal of necromancers have summoned and bound a powerful ultroloth to their combined will. This ultroloth resides with his own yugoloth army on the Barrens of Doom and Despair. The ultroloth (who manipulates the necromancers a bit more effectively than they manipulate him) provides mezzoloth troopers and nycaloth commanders to bolster this undead army. PCs who confront these epic cabal of archwizards will undoubtedly stumble upon the portal that links Faerun to the Barrens of Doom and Despair. While possibly chasing either the atropal or any number of epic-level necromancers through the portal, the web becomes more tangled as a planar trek across the Barrens begins, culminating in a great confrontation. The ultroloth's fiendish castle may be found, and the PCs (and however many cohorts, NPCs, summoned allies, etc.) must deal with this army of yugoloths on top of any surviving members of the necromancer cabal and/or the atropal. The PCs, along with possibly an entire clan of NPCs and various adventurers and heroes (possibly one or two well-known Realms personalities) must smash this undead army, destroy the foul abomination that is Acererak reborn, somehow dispel or destroy the eclipse that blots out the sun, shatter this necromancer cabal, sever all ties between these necromancers and their fiendish allies, and destroy the portal leading to the Barrens. |
| Darrian08-04-05, 04:37 PM | My EPIC campaign will center around the new magister (an evil drow diviner) who has brought back the trio nefarius and is working with them to build an army to conquer Waterdeep. He is erecting a portal to the orcworld described in the history of Mulhorand and will go there to recruit another horde. Obould will also play a minor role in this. The players must find out about this and stop him before he unleashes hell on Waterdeep. Darrian (planning your demise) |
