| twilightronin01-17-07, 10:02 AM | no drow haters, please. i don't care how popular they get. i've earned what i've accomplished. in second edition i spent alot of time in the menzo boxed set. our house millithor rose to the council; sacked seven houses, two on the council and two in one night even; gained control of the city's moneylending and agriculture; secretly plucked a dozen psionic oblodren from doom as they fell into the clawrift; and used an long forgotten artifact of eilistraee's make to convert drow nobles of sacked houses. the house was renamed ardenna and seated eighth on the council; three hundred commoners (levels 1-3); four hundred elite drow soldiers (levels 3-6);four priestesses (levels 9-14);ten psionicists (levels 9-15); five fighters (levels 6-13); and twelve mages (levels 10-18). i want to bring them to the surface; to a massive, japanese-style castle in a hidden mountain valley. i'll break the rules alittle. when converting my four highest level characters from second edition to third edition, i did the proper division, but then added up the remaining levels and completely rebuilt the characters at 38th level, the lowest of the four totals (maybe i'll be able to use them together someday). leadership and epic leadership will work with the drow commoners and soldiers, but what do i do about the drow nobles with pc levels? is there anyway within the rules, or, almost in the rules, to keep those drow nobles as followers? ideas? |

As a long time fan of Drow I would like to thank you for enlightening me.... I wish I could help you, but you've obviously already gone WAY beyond the scope of the rules. |
| MarkusTay6301-19-07, 05:04 PM | Okay, finally located the post. Sorry if I came off harsh, it was kind of a first impression/response thing. I'm old school, so when you start to go beyond lev 20 the characters start to be able to do things that individuals should not be able to do... Like take over a Drow city. AFAIK, anytime a single house or group becomes TOO POWERFUL, the others band together and take them down. That is canon. They will even ally with groups/cities/races outside of theirs just to make sure this never happens. Since the 'canon' Drow never reacted that way in your version, I made my 'beyond the scope of the rules' comment. I was incorrect, and I apologize. It may have been well within the rules. What I MEANT was "It went way beyond the scope of known lore". Drow are spiteful, if even one escaped your control they would go to another city and hand over all of their secrets just to make sure YOU didn't suceed. That being said, I don't see why you couldn't have NPC Drow with PC levels taking orders from PC Drow. Being subservient to someone else is a HUGE part of their culture. Only the Mistress of the ruling house would be beyond your control; she takes orders from no one but Lolth. |

You would have to look at epic leadership and rulership to see how the numbers line up. Also keep in mind that you can have sundry hirelings, mercs, slaves, political sycophants, and so forth that are not "followers" in the mechanical sense. |
