| Tulen09-24-04, 08:15 PM | The official 3.5 errata states that DR is now handled as either DR/Ex or DR/Su, and not by material, magic or alignment. My questions are: 1) Can someone please clarify that and state whether or not it means that creatures with either DR/silver or DR/cold iron are now affected by weapons that bypass DR/Su, or 2) Did I read it entirely wrong and those are just the classifications -- i.e. DR/Adamantine is simply an exceptional property, DR/silver is a supernatural property, and the individual DR classes are still by material, magic or alignment? The reading was a little confusing. |

The reading was a little confusing. So are these answers, I'm afraid! In short, (2) is correct. The designers are just clarifying that some DR (e.g., DR x/material or DR x/-) is an extraordinary or (Ex) ability (i.e., it doesn't go away in an anti-magic field) and other DR (DR x/alignment or DR x/magic) is (Su). |

You still need the right material to penetrate the DR, magic does trump nothing like it was before. And before you ask, when someone with DR magic and silver gets into an AMF, the DR magic goes away, but DR silver stays. |
