I plan on running this large adventure for my group relatively soon. For those of you who have run it (and play 3.5) can you give me any heads ups about changes that should be made to keep the adventure compatible?

Also, there are a number of monsters involved that I can't seem to locate in the MM and are given no physical description in the adventure. The first encounter involves a Chaond and a Palrethee demon... Where can I find these monsters so that I can describe them to my players?

Prison is only half 3.5...

Most of the creatures have the new stat format, but not all. Some are mix and match. BG himself is like that, still has DR 40/+4...

Both the Palrethee and the Chaond are in the MMII.

BG will appear in an "official" FR book next year according to Rich (Along with all the Arch Fiend stuff that was cut from PGTF)

Its pretty darn near 3.5 as your gonna get, the one question i had about the conversion was answered nicely for me by Richard :

I'd go 15/lawful, it's a step up from a death slaad.

Rich, just a 3.5 question regarding the DR of your fabulous creation Bazim-Gorag. It would seem most of the adventure is 3.5 compliant but for his DR. I think its listed currenty 35/+4. I was thinking of 15/Lawful and Magic, or 15/Good and Lawful. What would your expert opinion suggest?

I hope this hasnt been asked before..

Well, they had a bit of trouble with the advanced palrethee, and Osterel, the Chaond evoker. The human two-weapon style ranger practically murdered himself between it's 1d6+10 fire damage when struck with melee attacks against the attack and his vicious weapon enchantment.

The ranger eventually was killed by the palrethee, the mage saved himself and the bard by conjuring a globe of invulnerability so they were only struck by a single empowered fireball from the Chaond. The ranger was dominated for a few rounds, also.

The halfling rogue ended up horribly wounded, but the bard and sorcerer managed to take no more than about 20 damage each.

After that they polymorphed the bard into a silver dragon and flew back to Nesmé where there were no capable clerics. So they hired a mage to teleport them to Silverymoon. After getting their companion revived and selling some of the magic goodies they recovered from that battle the teleported back to the site of their last battle. More soliders had gathered, but a single fireball destroyed the.

The passed the observatory, not interested in turning of the main road to investigate, and came right to the barracks area. They had lots of trouble with Thulma, the ogre when she ran to fetch Moskogg after she could no longer get to the PCs herself (wall of force). Moskogg and all the gathered troops gave chase. The halfling was captured (power word stun from the gray slaad) and now he is imprisoned in the jail with the rest of the slaves.

The rest of the group waits now for a good moment to strike back. Moskogg, using divination, knows when to expect their return. Now they've got to face quite a few foes at once. If they plan on saving the halfling.

My group only got as far as the Barracks as well... However it's not because the adventure was too tough. They slaughtered the Acolytes.

They were avg level 12th, but there are 9 of them. They had been fighting giants in Nesme and were resting in Rivermoot when they decided to explore the Dungeon of the Ruins. This was of course 2 weeks before dungeon 101 came out! So I added a different entrance to the Vale, with some mine levels going down and a door they couldn't bypass yet to stall for #101. When they went back to Silverymoon to ID some magic items, they left their two scouts to watch the area.

Jag (1/2 orc rng/orc scout) and Milo (halfling rog/wild scout) observed the acolytes attack the Caravans in the Background section, so they knew the tactics of the outer raiders (chaond). that was an easy fight once the invisible Wizard was taken out.

Once in the Vale, my PC's also skipped the observatory and tracked the slave wagons to the barracks. They snuck up to the kitchen and commenced attacking. The acolytes, the Ogre, the Worg were all toast (can you say dwarven Bbn wielding a halberd and cleave). Vara, the cleric got crushed by a wall of iron (carried shrunken by our harper mage) rolled nat 1 on save! The Gray Slaad decided the PC's were too powerful to take on once Moskogg ate it. She returned to the Tower to warn Jendar Tholm.

Moskogg did some serious damage to the PC's but was eventually killed once all the mundane acolytes were killed off. The cleric, the mage and the archer were key players in his defeat. They then collected all the loot, gathered up the slaves, and went back to rivermoot and then to Silverymoon...

And ignored the Dungeon for 6 game months! I've now freed BG and gathered more support as he's Burninating the countryside!!!
