They all have a crisp, matte-style cover with the admirable woven background look. Aside from the FRCS, the rest have superior pieces of fantasy art in a wrap-around fashion done by some of the best in the biz. On the other hand, the Dungeons & Dragons Core & Accessory material looks as if it was put together by a kindergarten class. Cheap looking baubles that are assumedly gems of some sort seem as if they were bought at a local thrift store. The other miscellania scattered across these books were pulled out of a toy box and applied with a bit of Elmers Glue. Sad. All other core material from 1st through 2nd edition followed the same theme as todays FR goodness with the exception of a brighter, bolder set of covers. Oh, one more thing. Kudos to the WoTC team on the decision to not put additional advertising on the inside covers like 2nd ED. Those were gaudy and unsightly to say the least. |
