| Klyden04-24-05, 01:43 PM | Does anyone have a content list for Champions of Ruin? Has a content list for Champions of Ruin already been posted? If so, can someone provide a link to it? I'd appreciate it. Later. |
| Dargoth04-24-05, 07:38 PM | Unfortunately not For reasons unknown Rich has been very tight lipped on CoR |
| Slime Lord04-24-05, 07:52 PM | Well isn't that a good thing? It means antisapaction (Hit me) and could mean Ruin is a very good SB :) |
| Torkwaret04-25-05, 04:43 AM | What do you wish to be hit with, hmm ?? :D |
| Bocklin04-25-05, 07:25 AM | What do you wish to be hit with, hmm ?? :D Probably with some new magic weapon to be found on page 76 of "Champions of Ruin"... Which means that you will have to wait for the book to come out before you can let your frustation out! ;) Bocklin |
| Torkwaret04-25-05, 08:55 AM | I'd rather use a certain crown... :P |
| Ealdorad04-26-05, 04:18 PM | Reading the product description on Champions of Ruin it sounds a lot like Lords of Darkness, in that whole "evil organizations" way. Anyone on the in know of the differences? Thanks in advance, Ealdorad |
| Slime Lord04-26-05, 04:40 PM | Reading the product description on Champions of Ruin it sounds a lot like Lords of Darkness, in that whole "evil organizations" way. Anyone on the in know of the differences? Thanks in advance, Ealdorad That is what I was thinking. My thought was it was, in the sense, a "sequel" to it. Maybe we'll see new evil races along with more detailed information on some and organization/groups (Such as the HalfBreed Clan in WoTSQ (I won't say what two species) and the like :) |
| Jonathan Strange04-26-05, 07:41 PM | Since I've been running a group of 20th level evil guys in the Realms, I'm dying to get my hands on this thing! |
| Bocklin04-27-05, 03:47 AM | Maybe we'll see new evil races along with more detailed information on some and organization/groups (Such as the HalfBreed Clan in WoTSQ (I won't say what two species) and the like :) If you are thinking of the ones with two extra fighting arms, I think they're in. Isn't it expressly mentioned in the last "preview" article? Otherwise, I seem to remember that Rich or someone else was saying that: 1) the book will be "vile light", so it is not a BoVD for the Realsm 2) the book will focus on organisation membership, Feats and PrCs for evil PCs. The focus being more on how to play someone from one of the evil organisation presented in LoD than on the orgs themselves. so LoD would be for DMs and CoR for PCs?? I don't know... I guess we should expect a mixed brew of LoD and BoED thrown in together with some extra stuff (like more info on some archdevils or on some well known fallen solar). Bocklin |
| Alac Luin04-28-05, 01:26 PM | Richard Baker posted in this thread: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=282525&page=34&pp=30 post # 1020 OK, you folks have been asking for it, here it is: The Champions of Ruin ToC. I had to keystroke this in, so I didn't bother with many of the subordinate headers. I added a few quick notes about some things I thought you might want info on. Just a reminder: I did very little work on this book. My only contribution was the initial write-ups on Bazim-Gorag and Malkizid, and even those were expanded on by the other authors (Jeff Crook, Wil Upchurch, and Eric Boyd). INTRODUCTION What You Need to Play How to Use This Book in Your Campaign Philosophies of Evil Discussion of how folks might justify being evil--for example, by believing that there is no evil. CHAPTER 1: RACES Draegloth Extaminaar Krinth CHAPTER 2: TOOLS OF EVIL Feats New Spells Epic Spells Magic Items Looks like 36 new spells, plus 7 epic spells. | Terraneaux05-01-05, 12:26 AM | I'm currently playing in an epic evil group in the realms, so i greet this book with great anticipation. We are a Banite kingdom in the Border Kingdoms, and we get on with the Zhentarim, so this book could be very useful. |
| Mr. Wilson05-01-05, 12:29 AM | Justice of Weald and Woe? Oh, I soooooooooo hope that has something to do with Hoar! I doubt it, but one can hope! |
| Jonathan Strange05-01-05, 04:19 AM | I'm hoping it does too. Hoar doesn't get enough press. |
| Osieu05-01-05, 10:14 PM | Justice of Weald and Woe? Oh, I soooooooooo hope that has something to do with Hoar! I doubt it, but one can hope! That shall be fine... but what would be Vengeance Knight for then? ;) Actually I am hoping for something new about Shadow Weave. Feats, spells, prestige classes... at least I got Shadow Weave Nodes anyway. :D |
| Preternatural05-04-05, 12:37 AM | Justice of Weald and Woe sounds very druidy or rangery. Hmm, another Thayan PrC, definitely considering setting my next game in Thay, my players will never complain for lack of customization material. Shade Hunter, I though this book was about being evil things? lol. Depends on how evil kills evil too I guess. The shadow weave nodes and stuff sounds cool, sort of having it catch up to the normal Weave in regards to a few locales. I eagerly await Champions of Valor as well. |
| Ardashir05-06-05, 03:15 PM | Justice of Weald and Woe? Oh, I soooooooooo hope that has something to do with Hoar! I doubt it, but one can hope! Why should it? Hoar isn't an evil god. I'm just hoping for more on Malar myself. C'mon, WoTC, give the poor lycanthropes something to us against those goody-goody rangers and NG druids! |
| Gray Richardson05-06-05, 07:16 PM | Black Blood Cultist is a PRC for Malar worshippers. It gives you feral, bestial special abilities. Justice of Weald & Woe is actually an Eldreth Veluuthra PRC. They are manhunters. Sort of elvish ranger assassins bent on exterminating humans. |
| Gray Richardson05-06-05, 07:18 PM | That shall be fine... but what would be Vengeance Knight for then? ;) Vengeance Knights are enforcers for the Knights of the Shield. Kind of like medieval mafia toughs. |
| Klyden05-06-05, 09:03 PM | I'm hopin for a sequel to this book thats specifically designed for good players in Forgotten Realms. Maybe Defenders of Virtue? I'd love to see more info on Aasimar and Genasi Bloodlines that stem from the servants of god aligned Deities. I'm kinda disappointed though. I thought the Champions of Evil section would have the following (with complete 3.5 updated stats for each one): Aznar Thrul, Zulkir of Evocation Fzoul Chembryl, Chosen of Bane Hadrhune, Shade High Adviser Iyraclea, Chosen of Auril Nevron, Zulkir of Conjuration Lallara, Zulkir of Abjuration Larloch, the Ultra Lich Manshoon, Archmagus of the Zhentarim Szass Tam, Zulkir of Necromancy |
| raidensnake_2k405-06-05, 10:26 PM | would anyone who has the book mind posting what the classes do. thanks |
| Dargoth05-06-05, 11:52 PM | I'm hopin for a sequel to this book thats specifically designed for good players in Forgotten Realms. Maybe Defenders of Virtue? I'd love to see more info on Aasimar and Genasi Bloodlines that stem from the servants of god aligned Deities. Its called Champions of Valor and it comes out in November and it was written by Thomas Reid and Sean Reynolds |
| Gray Richardson05-07-05, 12:30 AM | I'm hopin for a sequel to this book thats specifically designed for good players in Forgotten Realms. Maybe Defenders of Virtue?I think maybe "Champions of Valor" would make a good name for such a book... And lo and behold! Amazon.com has a picture of the cover of that exact book! http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0786936975/qid=1115387670/sr=8-1/ref=pd_csp_1/104-1751743-4562360?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 Note: you may have to just cut and paste the address into your browser, I am not sure that the boards will link properly to the site if you just click on the link. |
| Klyden05-07-05, 12:46 AM | Its called Champions of Valor and it comes out in November and it was written by Thomas Reid and Sean Reynolds YYYYYAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY! I AM SOOOOO GETTIN CHAMPIONS OF VALOR! :D |
| Ardashir05-07-05, 12:03 PM | I think maybe "Champions of Valor" would make a good name for such a book... And lo and behold! That said, I am _so_ looking forward to Champs of Valor. I hope they strike the balance between covering the more popular good guys (the Harpers, the Seven Sisters, Elminster) and some of the second-stringers -- surely there must be someone fighting for Good in the Shining South or the Old Empires. Some info on lesser-used god deities and their churches (Ilmater, Selune, any or all the dwarven gods, and so on) would be nice too. |
| Dargoth05-07-05, 08:10 PM | Sean let a few cats slip out of the bag "Champions of Valor will cover the Paladin orders of the Realms and will contain ways to customise the core paladin class to fit a particular faith." I suspect this means that a Paladin of Kelmvor could dump the Paladins Detect Evil and replace it with Detect Undead |
| Klyden05-07-05, 08:51 PM | Neeto! :D I wanna see what Paladins of Ilmater could become! My favorite NPC I've ever played with my PC's is Ianteb Silverblade, a Male Aasimar Paladin of Ilmater! I hope they expand on Aasimar and good aligned Feytouched Bloodlines too! I'm havin some trouble doing the history for Ianten (who grew up in Darma). I'm having even more trouble making a history for his wife Rydia Greenfeather, a Feytouched Druid/Bard/Sorcerer (whom runs the Greenleaf Inn in the Dalelands). Bah! Must have more official Bloodline info! We want's it! We need's it! |
| Tempus66505-08-05, 01:18 PM | I hope they expand on Aasimar and good aligned Feytouched Bloodlines too! I don't expect they will; fey“ri, tieflings and tanarukk didn't get anye xtra attention in CoR either. Did you try Races of Faerūn? :) |
