Desies 08-06-03, 01:38 AM	it is possible that there are ilythiiri camps that have been protected from Lolth's view by some sort of divine means. Like the help of some other more powerful diety, however none are listed anywhere and most were destroyed!
Alratan 08-06-03, 08:34 AM	In Cormanthyr, there is an high magic version of the attonentment spell called "Suyoll" or "The Revival", which turns a Drow back into an Ilythiri, so if a group of Drow attonened on mass you could get such a community. Alratan

I didn't know about the Suyoll, that is very interesting... I wonder how many drow have actually taken part in that, or if it even exists in the 3.5 Realms of today.

Herr Doktor 08-06-03, 06:35 PM	That is according to 2nd Edition rules, though. I was thinking that perhaps for the new realms we could come up with something more akin to the original Ilythiri based on the descriptions of their culture and lifestyle from realms lore and history.

There could be dark elves that arrived upon faerun after the descent, which would not have the abilities of drow. The ilythiiri were cruel and corrupted, so nothing much has changed. -20000 DR Orishaar and the southern dark elf nation of Ilythiir begin skirmishes that continue on and off for the next seven millennia. -17100 DR Dark elven Ilythiiri cause the War of Three Leaves. Ilythiir's influence is not discovered for centuries. -11600 DR The Ilythiiri destroy Syņrpiir by fire, separating them from their allied neighbors and burning their homes to the ground. -11500 DR Thearnytaar and Eiellūr band together and declare war on Ilythiir. They fight a holding action, preventing the Ilythiiri from advancing north. -11450 DR The Sable Wars: Thearnytaar and Eiellūr, with minimal allies from Keltormir and Shantel Othreier, invade Ilythiir, intent on destroying or reforming the dark elves before more realms fall. Zanan 08-12-03, 12:46 PM	See "Cormanthyr" (AD&D sourcebook on Elves) about former settlements or follow this LINK (http://myth-drannor.net/DlabraddathNet/z-sshamath/Societies.htm) to find some info. There's not much known about settlements of the Ilythiiri ... maybe some names in Elaine Cunningham's novel "Evermeet". Note that the Ilythiiri were just one of the "tribes" of the dark elves and there were much more. The Ilythiiri were, in essence, surface drow with regard to behaviour towards other nations and races. Of course, not each and every Ilythiiri ... just as much as not each and every elf is a kind and good character these days ... was as evil and devious as they are portrayed. Another dark elven realm was that of Miyeritar, which they inhabited alongside green elves. It was destroyed by the sun elves of Aryvandaar (and RoF errs here). A drow put under that spell would not necesarrily turn out to be an Ilythiiri, even though he will become a dark elf. And BTW, that spell is rubbish and a waste of time! :smirk:
