| Boz Shulun05-28-04, 12:31 PM | I would like some feedback about this. Please be as candid as you like, I invite harsh criticism as long as there is something constructive to it. IMC there was a character that had been a staple of the campaign from the inception. His name is Slevon. His adventures have ranged from the Moonshaes (were his story began) to all over Faerun (including several forays into the Underdark). Now unlike the other characters Slevon is much more vocal and opinionated, making him both very popular but also very controversial. Now my to my point. IMC Slevon has done things to change the face of Faerun, being Epic that sometimes happens in a long running campaign. More recently, due to Slevon’s volatile nature and widely unpopular views of how the game was being run, Slevon is no longer with us. Furthermore, the DM has decreed that we cannot (as players) have anything to do with a companion (like him or not) that has been a part of us for so long. We cannot even utter his name. It is a dilemma that is eating at my very soul. How can a campaign continue to run when a piece has been deemed forbidden. How can a campaign be legitimate if you are forced to disregard the majority of its history. Please help me. |

I've booted a player recently from my game, and he almost ruined the entire experience for me, so much so that I almost stopped playing altogether. Since quitting wasn't an option for me, I kicked him out and really have nothing else to do with him. But, I could care less if my other gamer friends talk to him. Matter of fact, one of my players is one of his best friends. It is however, within your DM's perogative to either wipe away all of the things this person's character did if he wishes, or just continue on as if this character has died or moved on. |

I don't think the DM's decision is good for the campaign, but you must admit that Slevon's done a lot of stuff that I'd have resented if I was the DM, and the player doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut and tends to eat more than his share of pizza and spill it on the carpet. Ultimately, though, the DM is always right. I think actually it's the DM's wife, or parents, or someone, who really made the decision, anyway, and it's more to do with the house where you've been playing than the DM. If you ask some of the other players who are really into the campaign, you might find it's still going on, with this character, in other venues. |

One of his epic spells/items reacted violently to both the Slevons and they were both simulataneously wiped from existance. After that point in the timeline, it's as if he never existed. |

Putting aside what he’s done for the campaign world (IMC), his exploits should be revered… especially in game. Arbitrarily voiding his influence invalidates the entire campaign. Originally posted by Faraer I think actually it's the DM's wife, or parents, or someone, who really made the decision, anyway, and it's more to do with the house where you've been playing than the DM. I know your right. I think that the DM is truly not to blame. It was a personal squabble between the DM’s mom and Slevon and the DM got caught in between. Originally posted by Faraer If you ask some of the other players who are really into the campaign, you might find it's still going on, with this character, in other venues. Again I know your right. It just seems unfair that Slevon has to go to someone else’s house to play. And not acknowledging him just makes the DM (and his mom) look that much worse. |
| Valkaun_Dain05-28-04, 03:29 PM | getting booted out of the game but it's even worse that the DM's mom got involved. What a hag. We play with someone like Slevon (although he certainly isn't as prolific or big as Slevon seems to be) at our DM's house sometimes and the DM seems alright with it, I guess. Maybe his mom just hasn't noticed yet. Afterall, we do play in the basement. |
| ClobberinTime05-28-04, 03:46 PM | The DM probably should have just taken over the character, and run him as an NPC. I don't really get what the problem is, if you feel like still playing with this Slevon char, just DM yourself or find a new DM. Basically, don't you think that you all should sit down sometime and talk about this??? It would probably be easier than slamming one another here. But the point is this gaming is intense so make sure you like the people who you are playing with in the real world and it will make the game go much easier. If I'd have been the DM I would have quietly have set up a situation were Slevon was sure to die and that would have been the end of it. |

| WizO_BigSister05-28-04, 06:17 PM | Nice try people, but I'm not as stupid as I look .... (nobody could be that stupid :D If this is really a discussion about a game then it should be held in the What's a Player to Do? (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=48) forum. If its a way of sneaking a forbidden topic in backwards then yep it is very clever but it's still not allowed. *click* |
