| Koofoo9507-13-05, 11:48 PM | Ok in my campaign the characters were Drow slave raiders working for Bregaden D'thare (or how ever you spell it). They went on a slave raid of this orc tribe, it was a sucess and they then had to transport the slaves to the surface to sell them off to the Zhents. While on the service they were seperated and captured by Harper Agents. They were given a choice by the harpers, help or die. So the PC's took the obvious choice and returned to their drow leaders and their Zhent allies to spy on the slavers and find there base of operation. They found the base, contacted the harpers and helped kill the slavers. Now, one of the slavers escaped, and he will go to the Zhents to tell what happend. My question is this, the PC's loyaly served the harpers, what would the harpers than do? Would they give them membership? Hire them again? Just set them free? And the Zhents will be pretty ticked from looseing a such a great supplier of slaves. Also the rest of the Drow mercs will be pretty ticked too, so what do you guys think the reaction would be. |

Even for a good DM who knows much of Faerun lore and these particular groups, it's not likely that events would play out the way you have them, I only say this if you ARE attemptingto follow the Faerun world. Slave trade while frowned upon is not very high on the list of harper priorities, it exist throughout much of Faerun, covertly in places that are supposed to be slave free, like Waterdeep. Harpers watch those who they may recruit for quite awhile to avoid the double agent dilemma which occurs anyway so it's not likely they would recruit the PCs, secondly the PCs would have to meet rwqs to become harpers and more importantly would have to WANT to be harpers. Since they were already "villians" its not likely that harpers will concern themselves with fate of PC and MORE likely that they wouldn't have let them know they were harpers to begin with, especially if allowing them to live. You can work this through but like I said, a little more research on these groups will go along way to helping your story line. |
| NeoCount07-15-05, 02:35 PM | Ok so the Drow Party helps out the Harpers under duress..... What are the overall partys Alignment? Do they even want into the plot and intrigues in the world of light above??? And if the Harpers do have furture plans for the party I think that they would refer the group to a higher Power who would find out the partys true intentions....such as Elminster, The seven Sisters, Or Silvery Moon. As for the Underdark the Band The the Drow Group used to work for does not take betrayel well among their Brother Hood. Jar Laxel (or however it is spelled) the leader of the party would problably send and assassain Group out to either capture for questioning or kill outright. But all in all though, I think the party would have to work realy hard to fit into the upper world Polotics, and convice the powers that be that they are not a threat from the world below. Or if the Party Stays under the rock blanket, they would have to always be on their toes from Revenge. |
| Lessonar Abylon07-15-05, 03:29 PM | The Harpers won't be offering meberships very lightly, this much I know but there is a chance as before, just research the clique's involved at the moment. But alway's have a back up plan. Jarlaxel won't take too kindly to people playing with his purse strings too lightly. |
| Airicx Velysian07-15-05, 03:48 PM | Just a little help: It's Bregan D'aerthe and Jarlaxle (I'm pretty sure... lol!) |
| Koofoo9507-16-05, 12:18 AM | Thanks I think that you guys were right the drow they betrayed would be pretty ticked(i love a good assassain), and thanks for the spelling help Airicx Velysian. |
| Steel Rabbit07-16-05, 03:09 PM | I think the Harpers were just lucky to find the Drow PCs when they did, and used them as such. Now that they've done what the Harpers want them to do, they'd most likely release them. What would be really cool is if you had the Harpers try and kill the PCs to 'Finish the Job'. You could have Harpers attack the PCs here and there in your campaign, until they prove themselves to the Harpers or kill enough of them that the Hapers realize the PCs aren't worth the cost in lives. |
| Cromm10k07-17-05, 07:21 AM | It realy depends on the party's general alignment. If they are evil why didn't they betray the Harpers after they were send on their mission? If they are neutral they should have the chance to join one side, IMHO. In my book the Harpers are the good guys and wouldn't kill the party after "using" them just for being Drow. You could try to convert them to the lightside (see the BoED) or thr Harpers could use them as mercs for other unpleasant tasks that includes things good guys do not realy like (like assassinations...). |
