Hi

sorry for my english, this aint my mother language

ok I've been a D&D player since a long time ago. I started in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting 2nd Edition and I played in the Greyhawk setting to try the 3rd Edition

I liked it a lot so I bought a lot of gaming books related to the FRCS and I did some GMing just for the fun of it

Now I'm starting a game with people who never played D&D but were quite interested because they played CPU games or Rifts etc

I'm trying to get a good story but it is not that easy off course

there a 6 players divided in 2 groups, one in Harrowdale and the other in Deepingdale

for now the plot is simple, I'm trying to find a way to unite the two groups while setting something that will lead for a long campaign

Deepingdale group: Ranger/Monk/Thief

The ranger was in competition with another one (NPC Ranger who was secretly a follower of Cyric) and during the competition, a fight occured and my player killed the NPC and his master witnessed only the end of the fight not knowing that the Cyric Ranger started it... so while he was trying to rescue and bring back to the village the bad ranger, they were ambushed by Drow from the Jaerle House who almost killed all of them... the Ranger PC was able to get away

While he was fleeing from a single drow, he saw a monk (another PC) and asked for help. The player agreed and they were able to scare the drow away but the PC ranger was grievely wounded so he was taken to the Rhauntides Tower to receive some healing and he told about the ambush so the monks went into the forest to investigate...they found nothing except the bodies of his master and the Cyric Ranger

In fact, the drow ambush was only there to give a reason for his master’s death and for some future sub plots like having a new favored ennemy

While the PC ranger was healing, the investigation aboout the incident was going on with the monk asking his long time friend (the PC thief) to break in the House of the Cyric Ranger and the thief found some documents telling that there his a meeting that will be held at the BlackFeather Bridge in FeatherDale so the PCs are on their way to the destination

Harrowdale group: Fighter/Cleric of Mystra/Necromancer

For this group I used the plot in the FRCS

Everything was calm until the Fighter went in the port and saw a clerir of Tyr claiming that the 7 Burghers were allowing Zentharim trade in Harrowdale, then the fighter went to talk to the cleric. After a long speech about how Justice should get rid of the Zhent tyranny he agreed to follow the cleric to a boat. This boat is led by a Zhent Rogue named Balafre and his main bodyguard is a Half Orc Monk (believe it or not!!!). The Balafre used some diplomacy and some brute force to calm down the cleric in front of the fighter eyes and he didn’t react because he was a little bit scared by the monk (hehe! looks like sometimes, a good description his very a good way to scare the PCs). When the cleric went away, the Fighter went to hide and was looking if something suspicious would happen.

He was right cause he saw a caped man go on the boat and took a purse from the Balafre then after when off the boat and was waiting fopr someone…another caped horseman came and took that purse then went away. He tried to pursue the caped man but his was too slow but managed to collect a scroll that slipped from the caped man clothes. This scroll revealed to be an inventory sheet from a fruit market in the town. He went back to his house to talk about it with his partners then they decided to wait for the next day to act. In the morning, a news was spreading all around the town, someone attempted on the Cleric of Tyr’s life…

Now it’s up to the PCs but they are supposed to investigate and if they follow the trail of the scroll found they will uncover that the owner of the fruit market (who he’s making good affairs with the Zhents) gave money to somebody to assassinate the cleric of Tyr, if they push him harder they will make the connections with the Zhent boat. In fact, Balafre tried to cover the tracks so he gave to money to the merchants so he could engage a proper assassin who in fact is a Cleric of Cyric in need of quick money. So with the help of the militia, they will be able to push back out of the port the Zhentarims(without violence, Balafre has enough Diplomacy to get away without any blood shed) but not without making themselves a fierce enemy for the future, Balafré

And following that, they should be able to have the assassin’s location but the assassin fled his place in a rush not without leaving evidence about going to a meeting on the BlackFeather Bridge

So here it is, what do you think about it??? Looks pretty simple I know, I’m only a starting DM and need to know some things…well I will give you some things that I planned after some comments and I will have some questions for you after

It’s very nice to have a forum like it

See ya!!
