| Odin Olarin06-24-05, 08:29 PM | Forgive the typos and incorrect spellings. Here's what i would like to see as a new set of scource books, Dairies or Journals of powerful NPC or famed Toril inhabitants good and evil alike, telling of their goals accomplishments and some of their abilities, now it wouldn't be all one thing, for instance here are some people i would like to have a journal about, Karsus(he's always on my list) Elminster Halaster Eltargrim Simbul Sammaster Fzoul Ioulam(another alwasy on my list) Srinshee Calim and Memnon(maybe not them but a spectator of their war) Josidian Starym(high choice) Captain Fflar Groomph Baenre A great dwarven warrior from the Great Rift or the Delzoun Empire(there is not much on the Dwarven Empire) My favorites would be Halaster, Sammaster, Calim and Memnon, Josidian Starym, Groomph, and Ioulam or Karsus. Thgey could start each chapter out with like 3 or 4 pages out of one of their journals, make them look hand written like they are actually pages and just not typed text, then detailed backgrounds of themselves, timelines, and their discoveries and abilities along with their accomplices, allies, and enemies. For example, Halaster, could have details about his past, a large chapter on Undermountains, halaster apprentices and what he is doing now along with his future plans. and All the books should have detailed stats of the books owner and many of the heros or villians of legend during their time. Such as Josidian Starym could have Fflar, Eltargrim and the srinshee detailed along with himself and others. There wouldn't be a mass amount of information on the others but atleast have their stats to see how they matched up with the guy, plus everyone loves a legendary characters stats. Josidians could have all kinds of information about House Starym and their dealings along with artifacts and things like that. anyway you all get the idea, i like it and a few others i've talked to like it, let me hear what you all think. |
| GothicDan06-24-05, 10:08 PM | So, basically updates of the Villain's and Hero's Lorebooks from 2E, with a little bit of in-character introductions? ;) |
| Nevilar Que-tar06-24-05, 11:04 PM | I like the idea. Elminster's journal could focus on Shadowdale/ The Dalelands- an area that is sorely lacking in resource material. But, again, I like the idea :D |
| Odin Olarin06-28-05, 02:01 AM | well it would be more like a history of a character and his allies and enemies on a surrounding area along with his studies discoveries and great legends and such, perhaps some event of people he looked up to before he became so powerful, how they became powerful and some of the things they've created. Along with information on their homes and lairs and places they visit fequently. some could be rare prestiege classes theyve encounter as enemies or allies, power ful NPC's they've had contact with and so on. |
| Bloodtide_the_Red06-29-05, 06:10 PM | This does sound like a good idea.....but it will never happen. This would be way too much Fluff for WotC to ever put out. This type of detail is just too much, you can't expect someone to write all that stuff. Most of the folk you listed have been around fro hundreds of years. No one at WotC will bother to go through that much Realms lore. BT |
| GothicDan06-29-05, 07:27 PM | Odin, what you have described is pretty similar to what TSR did with the Villains and Heroes Lorebooks. :) |
| Odin Olarin06-29-05, 10:44 PM | the heroes and villians loebooks are not nearly indepth enough. and it's a shame if no one at wizards would want to take on a project like this. but they can bring great FR sourcebooks like Serpent Kingdoms... >_< |
| Lashan06-30-05, 06:46 AM | Detailing the NPCs has always been a waste. I'd rather have actual lore then stats of famous people from novels. |
| msatran07-01-05, 11:10 PM | I'd kill just to have a decent Kara-Tur Sourcebook before I paid a red cent for something like this. The same thing goes for Maztica, Anchorhome, the Western Heartlands, the Lands of Intrigue, the Moonshaes, or any other area they haven't detailed in 3.5 I need detailed information on cities, towns, how many people live in them, and where they are. If there's one thing I HATE about the new sourcebooks, it's the constant chatter about all the stuff that happened 24000 years ago during the First Flowering, and the era of the Creator Races, blah blah blah, etc. For me it was enough to know "In the old days, Strange Lizard Men ruled the world!" Your DM can MAKE THAT SORT OF ANCIENT INFORMATION UP! IT DOESN'T NEED TO BE WRITTEN DOWN! They really need to buckle down and focus on the PRESENT of the Realms, and let the past remain mysterious and strange. |
| Green Cobra07-02-05, 08:51 PM | Al Qadim! |
| dragonfriend07-03-05, 05:27 AM | Al Qadim!  |
| Lashan07-03-05, 08:46 AM | Al Qadim! :pbbbtt: |
| GothicDan07-03-05, 09:56 AM | Please, no Al-Qadim until the present Realms are completely detailed. I want Faerun. I like FR - I like the Faerun that is implied by seeing the Forgotten Realms logo. Al-Qadim, Kara-Tur, et., later. Faerun, now. |
| Green Cobra07-03-05, 12:50 PM | Ah well, I like Arabian type adventures |
| GothicDan07-03-05, 03:40 PM | Well, I was looking at a things from a more "What still needs to be done" point of view. Al-Qadim isn't even a part of the main portion of Faerun. It should be under an entirely different label altogether. Or, if you want Arabian, use Calimshan. |
