| Talos_91109-11-03, 09:09 AM | Hi all, I'm a big fan of D&D and the FR universe. However, where I live, nobody else knows about D&D :(. Anyway, I'm into computer games, and one of them is a strategy game called Stronghold... Now before you move onto another thread, let me finish ;) I'm a scenario designer who makes maps (as in maps which you can play) and the like for the game for the betterment of mankind and i've made a few maps based on the he Lord of the Rings Movies...:D However, I believe that Faerun has some great sites to make a siege map on with players getting to defend or attack... Even though Stronghold is game which does not support "Magic", it makes up for in flexibility regarding structures and such. So I was hoping if the good folk here could guide me and tell me some sites which I can make maps on ? Dwarven citadels are the obvious choice here, with their machinary (ballistae and catapults). But other keeps, or fortified villages, cities etc would do just fine. Also, the main thing I'm looking for are pictures of plans. Ive got the FR Camapaign Setting and the Dieties of Faerun Rulebooks, but the closest thing I found to a picture of a castle type thing was the Abbey of the Swords... I've also got the Stronghold Builder's Guidebook , which is fantastic, but only has one dwarven citadel in it... Some help would be appreciated -Talos_911 |

A great site against a siege Waterdeep Home of the Archmage called Khelben "Blackstaff" Arunsun, Cormyr One of the most civilized cities of Faerun Ten Towns Awesome site,... These all i recall, and i know how sux to live in a country where FRP is unknown, I asked if they sell FRP books, fantasy stuff to a salesman, he show me Pokémons  |

| Talos_91109-11-03, 12:55 PM | Thanks People :) Although these are great sites you've mentioned, trouble is the lack of structural info in the form of pictures, maps or detailed description concerning these sites... so whatever I create would be a figment of my imagination...not the 'REAL' thing (if you get what I mean)... As I said, I've read the FR Campaign Setting Rulebook from cover to cover a dozen times and most descriptions are vague as far as getting structural info is concerned. The Zhentil Keep sounds like an interesting siege with its predominatly human and Orc occupants... Maybe I could think up a story with the folk of the Dalelands uniting with the returning elves of Cormanthor to fight the evil Zhentarim :D... But what I would really like is a map of a dwarven fortress... For now, my problem prevails :( -Talos_911 kedi : Pokemon eh ?... that must've sucked. Atleast out here they just give you a wierd look and move on  |

It contains the maps and detailed descriptions of: 1- Twin Towers of the Eternal Eclipse (temple of Cyric) 2- The Well of Dragons (cavern of the Cult of Dragons) 3- Drow Outpost of House Jaerle (both in the Cormanthor forest and in the Underdark) 4- Lair of the Night Masters (lair in the sewers of Westgate) 5- Thayan Enclave in Proskur 6- Excavation Site (of the Shades) 7- Zhentarim Tethyamar Fortress (a Zhentarim outpost) 8- a Temple of Bane 9- Daemonfey Bolthole (underground fey'ri lair) 10- Karanok Mansion (of House Karanok, worshippers of Entropy) 11- Dark Moon Shrine (underground Sharran shrine of Dark Moon monks) 12- Shadow Thief Safe House Of all these, I'd say that 3), 5) and 7) are large enough to make siege maps. |

The Atlas starts off with the battle with Kazgoroth, lots of castles and maps. Next is the cities of Ten-Towns with additional maps. One of the funest ones to do would be the Citadel of the Raven and Zhentil Keep. I know a lot of adventurers who would love a crack aat storming these forts. Maps should be easy to find on the net or at WoTC. I know I have found lots of FR maps on the Net. Just try searching.:D |
| Talos_91109-12-03, 04:58 AM | Hmm... Ive been meaning to get my hands on a copy "Lords of Darkness" for a while now... I think I'll get one then :). The Atlas, I'm afraid, would have to wait for a while though. Also, regarding downloadable material availble here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/downloads)... The WotC site has a great collection of supplementary material, and although I have the bandwidth to get the stuff, Unfortunately I don't have the time to go through it all. If some of you could tell me as to which one of these would be relevant to what I'm looking for, I'd appreciate it. A few battles, like the Battle of the Bones, would also make great map IMO. Largely due to the fact that these battles were fought with sword and shield rather than magic (for the most part). I've got info on this battle from one of Elminster's Ecologies availbe for download... Any other such battles you might know of ? Just keep in mind that the battle should have been won due to the general competence of the army rather than hinging on the actions of one person (or a small group). Also battles should have been fought in the traditional way rather than with magic and through monsters... I know FR was not shaped up in this way, but... just a thought. Thanks, -Talos_911 |
| kedi09-12-03, 07:57 AM | "kedi : Pokemon eh ?... that must've sucked. Atleast out here they just give you a wierd look and move on " yeah, that really sox, you can buy on internet some campaign resources such as "Ruins of Myth Drannor" and Undermountain series which i scanned to my computer, there are usefull things on internet belive me, just push the seach button in a search motor |
| Talos_91109-12-03, 09:20 AM | Yes, those could be of help, but would the Ruins of Myth Drannor or an Undermountain cave system serve as a worthy battle ground for the clash of 2 armies ? I think that more traditional scenarios would be approrpriate as far as a Battle or Siege is concerned... atleast for my first try for making an FR based map. I've been doing a fair bit of reading on Zhentil keep lately and the more I read of its history and such, the more it intrigues me. I think a map with Zhentil Keep, Darkhold or other such stronghold under the control of The Black Network would do well. Now, the search for info begins  -Talos_911 |
| Arravis09-12-03, 01:22 PM | Phlan :) |
| Talos_91109-14-03, 11:08 AM | Could someone give me info, or direct me to info online regarding: -Zhentil Keep -Darkhold -Citadel of the Raven -Any related Zhentarim Stronghold which would pass of as atleast a fortified keep. A map of any of these would be just great, but I won't mind if you could give me a detailed description if you could include some structural layout and Garrison info. -Talos_911 |
