| Iuducium08-23-03, 01:03 PM | I've looked at the 2e spellfire wielder class from Volo's Guide to All Things Magical, and realized that the 3e Spellfire Channeler PrC really is only about half of the progression. I'm led to believe that the Spellfire Hierophant Epic PrC would be the other half, but it really doesn't fit the established spellfire idea or rules, in my opinion. So, who wants to throw out ideas for fixing the S. H. to reflect the old spellfire wielder? (C'mon, you know you want to!) I'm thinking Increased Storage would continue up to x10, like in the old rules, and bring back whirlflames. Other than that, keeping the ranged healing and Greater Drains from the class is a great idea. So I'm kinda looking for a combination. Any ideas? Comments? Builds? |
| Shakriim06-02-04, 04:56 AM | ok, lot of time gone since your post, but I#M lately working on this theme with my DM. I'd like to take on this theme (on base of 3e): Our (my) considerations were: The official Spellfire Hierophant is really a joke compared to other epic level classes / benefits. "Haste" and that kind of stuff is sth. every Charakter can get via an epic level feat ... and it even works in dead-magic zones ... In fact, the basic abilities from the channeler are simply and slightly enhanced, which causes the epic level benefit to be to small. For this reasons, my DM and I discussed and developed an "Alternate Hierophant" whose abilities are led by the first sentence of the official description: "...are mere students compared to you." That's why we rearanged the "feats" and developed new abilites, to bring that sentence to life. Finally we came up to the following progression: 1 Greater charged item drain, Ranged healing 2 Spellfire burst, 5 ft, Weave sensibility 1 3 Aura of light, Spellfire reserve 1 4 Greater permanent item drain 5 Armor of Fire 6 Spellfire reserve 2, Weave sensibility 2 7 Spellfire burst 10 ft 8 Greater Spellfire absorption 9 Bonusfeat.*, Spellfire reserve 3 10 Spellfire Emanation Did you had the chance to "test" your alternate settings in a campaign environment ? And what were the results ? |
