I suppose the other Chosen would shapechange to look like him, to sort of "keep up appearances" where necessary. However, if his destruction were "public", so to speak, then I guess the Simbul might be elevated to his position? Or perhaps the power of the Magister would increase, along with their responsibilities? Originally posted by HVulpes Also what if Eliminster never existed? How would the rEalms be different? Just some Campaign ideas. I suppose if he "never was", things could be either quite different or quite the same (depending on the needs of your campaign). Whose to say some other aspiring young mage couldn't win the heart of Mystra and learn her deepest sercrets? Or, perhaps hero's galore sacrificed themselves on many an occassion, paying with their lives to complete tasks otherwise taken care of by the old mage. Ultimately, you could look back on all of Elminster's published history and decide that such and such an event was not stopped in time by Elminster, then adjust your campaign to give precedence to whatever evil Flourished in his abscence, then sick your PC's on it to drive it away. Hope this helps! |

Then we would have a lot of beholders running wild trying to learn what have happened to their regent.... Since Elminster killed the/a beholder regent a long time ago, and polymorphs into it once in a while to keep the beholders in line.. Amongst other things. |

How would the rEalms be different? I don't know, I guess the Realms would be exactly the same, considering that no "Eliminster" exists. *sighs* Why is it so hard to spell "Elminster"? This thread, and the one below, both misspell it. |
| Jeiroth07-08-03, 04:44 PM | If Elminster was gone I think I would probably walk outside and do a little dance. Then, with a big smile on my face I would walk back inside and have a coca-cola and ice with a lime. |
| Frodo Lives07-08-03, 09:38 PM | If Elminster never existed then the Realms would be a very different place indeed. Some of the more high profile activities the old guy was involved in 1) ToT, helped Midnight and Kelemvor and Cyric, who knows how that would have turned out? 2) Trained and/or raised several important figures in the Realms (Storm, Khelben, Dove, among others) 3) The Zents, Red Wizards, Maulgyrms (sp?) would have a much bigger grip on the world 4) One of the groups mentioned above would probably have seized spellfire for Shandril and caused huge trouble with it 5) The Harpers might not have survived 6) The Simbul would probably still behave like a crazed obessive lunitic There are more and probably bigger changes to the realms if Elminster didn't exist, but if he died today, what would the changes be? Who knows, because he doesn't take a very active role in the world compared to the way he used to, but their is no doubt that he is still a very important figure, maybe the most important, in the realms. |
| GoodOlWillickers07-08-03, 09:52 PM | One of the condition on Elminster's Elminster's Evasion that he has cast on himself is that if he dies. When he gets killed, he's sent to something he calls Safehold, where a priest of Mystra or whatever would resurrect him. Sooooooo... Basically, you have to be one baaaaaaaaaad mofo to kill Elminster.
