| Beppe6309-07-05, 06:24 AM | Hello at all, this is my first post on this part of the community! :D I and my gaming group have decided to play PCs starting at younger age before they gain the "1st level". The PCs live all stably in Daggerford (not necessarily all birth in Daggerford). I want to run three adventures before they reach the "adult age" (19 years, 1st level class, 1374 DR) and start to go away in search of luck. The three adventures are setting: 1st at 10 years (1365 DR); 2nd at 13 years (1368 DR); 3th at 16 years (1371 DR). Now I hope you can give me any help, suggestions and hints to arrange these three adventures! ;) Thanks in advance for any help. |

Daggerford has been a tradeway town for quite a long time, and it has a fair number of shrines and temples. I think these could be great ingredients for adventures even for younger people. You could have one of their friends kidnapped or taken aboard a caravan, and have the PC's be the only ones who know this. They will probably tell their parents or the local authorities, but who believes 10 year old kids ;) When no one believes their story, they will have to track down the caravan themselves and rescue their friend. At the temple of Tymora they could overhear a prophecy (whether this regards them or not). If they take the prophecy personally (and with some DM steering, this shouldn't be a very hard thing to have them do) they will probably act on it and get in some sort of trouble. Maybe they discover a secret shrine to an evil deity (Cyric for instance) and manage to bring it down somehow. If the atending priest survives the ordeal, he would make a fine recurring villain. If you use this idea for the first adventure, the second and third could very well be tied to this. |

WHY... they got into their classes, training, masters... but don`t forget... for a ten year old - a dagger is a two-handed weapon ;) |
| TheAscendant09-11-05, 05:20 PM | My friend ran a campaign like this several years ago and it was alot of fun. We started at 14 and then played thru several pivotal stories until we actually earned the right (thru experience and role playing) to earn 1st level. We ended up being serious peasant heroes, so that was cool. One of the ideas that Tempus665 put forth was the best yet: recurring villains. I would also add, recurring idolized heroes/mentors. The first couple of stories can be "ghost story" styled or based on boogeymen. My first idea is this: Imagine a nasty goblin who is trying to survive the annihilation of his band, and is preying on livestock that the youths are charged with guarding. 5 youths with slings have an average -1 BaB versus a goblin with a +3 javelin/bow. The youths will have 2 HP (which means they better ambush the lil bugger or odds are one of them will die) and the goblin will have 4. Only one of them needs to connect on an sling shot (5 shots @ 30% accuracy) or 2 will end the conflict for sure. It could be cool to have them track him down or set a trap for him then BLAMO! Missile weapons and cover could allow the characters a serious advantage over non-missile weapon wielding monsters/animals. Another couple of ideas are obvious farm predators, natural disasters/weather, and small intrigue. Maybe the characters spend their free time hiking in the hills and find a Zhent encampment who are spying on the town. Stuff like that will help the characters become little heroes. |

Kids may not be combat ready, but they can be really creative in finding solutions for problems. If I was 10 years old and I saw a big burglar in my house, I wouldn't take him on myself, I'd call my dad. |
