Advice on a Kelemvor priest [Archive] - Wizards Community

11-20-03, 12:25 PM Hi all,

My 8th level cleric/ sacred exorcist 1 (has sufficient XP to go to 10th level but not awarded at time of death) died valliantly in battle against a Vampire in the Gwathburg.
My DM has asked me to return the PC to the living in order to continue his mission to prevent a rising of undead in the realms. This is somehow linked to the city of the spider queen adventure we are about to start.
The DM sent me the following message:

'I am still wondering what to do whether to have you come back with the penalties, with the penalties but as an outsider or just return you as you where before. What do you think?'

Now changing my type somehow sounds appealing especially as I have been chosen by my god to return to the living.
So any suggestions or ideas you may have would be greatly appreciated.:angel:

11-20-03, 03:46 PM Kelemvor is easily able to return you without any penalties. Either true a true resurrection spell or through salient divine abilities

11-21-03, 01:44 PM You could always take the divine disciple prestige class, at level 5 in that class you are considered a native outsider.

11-23-03, 05:49 AM Get your hands on the Book of Exalted Deeds and take a look at the Risen Martyr. It is a PrC written for this particular purpose - a dead hero returning to life to fulfill a quest. When you return (as a 0th-level RM) you become a "Deathless" (good undead); you must then take the first level in the class, which gives you a couple of powers, then you can choose what to advance as usual. The PrC itself gives you nifty powers at levels 2-10, but as a spellcaster you might want to continue as a sacred exorcist.

The deathless aren't undead. They're deathless. It's a different creature type than undead.

Correct. From a Kelemvorian perspective, the difference is that undead tried to (or were forced to) cheat death and stay on the Prime for as long as possible. Deathless, instead, accepted death, passed through Kelemvor's judgement, were sent over to their patron gods, and then prayed to be allowed to complete their sacred mission on Toril.
