| elven high mage06-26-03, 12:24 PM | i have a dead player and i want to do a mini campain while the others are reviving him. i know that he will go to kelemvors city thing and that he will live in that city until he is judged (how long will it be till he is judged?) i know what template to add to his character (petitioner out of MotP) in the faerun campaign guide it mentions kelemvors worker/guards/order keepers does anyone have any stats for these. i worked out that they would be outsiders and not undead because of kelemvor (stating the obvious!!) also are avatars the gods in mortal form? i am not sure of this because it says in the faiths and pantheons book under some gods stats that they casn create up to 10 avatars but then it says things like he doesnt often create avatars because he was once killed in this form (or somthing along those lines) any help given would be greatly appreciated thanks:fight!: |
| Gotrex06-26-03, 01:11 PM | dont know about the kelemvors guards but for avatars it can mean both in the time of troubles avatars refered to the mortal bodies the gods took however most of time avatars are just when a god splits itself up so it can achieve multiple tasks at once |
| elven high mage06-28-03, 04:03 PM | i decided to make this as kelemvors guards Kelemvors guards Medium-size outsider (lawful) Hit dice: 4d8+8 (24hp) Initiative: +1 Speed: 40ft AC: 15 (+1Dex, +4 chain shirt) Attacks: bastard sword +7 melee Damage: bastard sword 1d10+6 Face/Reach: 5ft by 5ft/5ft Special attacks: spell-like abilities Special qualities: positive combustion, healing skin Saves: fort +6, ref +5, will +7 Abilities: Str 17, Dex 12, Con 15, Int 12, Wis 16, Cha 15 Skills: diplomacy +9, knowledge (religion) +8, heal +10, listen +10, spot +10 Feats: exotic weapon proficiency (bastard sword), power attack Climate/Terrain: The Fugue Plane Organization: solitary or patrol (5-10) Challenge Rating: 3 Treasure: none Alignment: always lawful neutral Advancement: 5-7 HD (medium size); 8-11 HD (large) Combat Spell-like abilities: 1/day- protection from chaos, augury, searing light. These abilities are as the spells cast by a 4th level cleric Positive combustion (su): when guard of kelemvor dies his body ignites with blue flames. These flames last for 1d8 rounds and for anyone who touches the flames they act as a cure light wounds spell as cast by a 4th level cleric. Any undead creatures who come in to contact with the flames stand a chance of setting alight in the same way as fire. Each round that the undead creature is on fire for it suffers a cure light wounds spell as if cast by a 4th level cleric. Healing skin (su): anyone who touches a guard of kelemvors skin is affected by a cure minor wounds spell as cast by a 4th level cleric. The guard of kelemvor can make a touch attack against an undead creature and affect it as if its had cure minor wounds cast on it. The guard of kelemvor can suppress this ability as a free action. i havent written any info so that people can use them in thier own ways |
| Gotrex06-28-03, 05:38 PM | one thing you should change climate the guards dont live in the furgue plan they live and work in the city of the dead they just make trips to the furgue plane get the faithless/false and bring them to the city of the dead |
| Faeryl Zauvirr06-29-03, 05:41 AM | What level is the player? If he is high enough you could consider him fighting off a devil assault of the city. Maybe he could get captured and has to fight his way out of a demon stronghold. Just some ideas.;) |
| elven high mage06-29-03, 06:04 AM | thats exactly what my original ideas were and it doesnt matter what level he is because the petitioner template reduces CR to 1. i was going to let him get captured and then kelemvor would send an avatar and a few of kelemvors guards to rescue the stolen souls (it says he sometimes does this in faiths and pantheons) now i just have to hope that my PC doesnt read this board:D |
| Mirtek06-29-03, 06:34 PM | Originally posted by elven high mage i i know that he will go to kelemvors city thing and that he will live in that city until he is judged (how long will it be till he is judged?) Actually he won't live in Kelemvor's city. If he's a faitfull he will group with others of his faith and they will constandly pray to their deity. The deities regulary send their servants to the Fugue Plane to locate this groups of their dead worshippers and bring them into their realms. If he's a false or faithless Kelemvor's servants will find him and bring him to Kelemvor for judgement. This means that he will stand in a large que until he finally gets to Kelemvor to receive his judgement. According to the FRCS the time he will spend in the que is 1d10 days. Originally posted by elven high mage also are avatars the gods in mortal form? i am not sure of this because it says in the faiths and pantheons book under some gods stats that they casn create up to 10 avatars but then it says things like he doesnt often create avatars because he was once killed in this form (or somthing along those lines) any help given would be greatly appreciated thanks:fight!: A deities mind is capable to perform things which would drive us poor ordinary mortals insane. One of this things is being able to be at several places at once. An avatar is simply a manifestation of the god. This manifestation is less powerful as the god himself, and is merely a projection of the god’s power. An avatar can be destroyed, which is never looked upon kindly by the true god, and often results in some sort of divine retribution. The worst effect the destruction of an avatar has for the true god is that he has to create a new avatar. Otherwise killing an avatar doesn't hurt the deity. The avatar looks like an indepent being, but in truth he and the deity share the same mind. If the deity sees something the avatar knows it as well and the other way round. So talking to an avatar is the same thing as talking to a deity. During the Times of Trouble the gods were stripped of their divinity and send down to Torils in form of a single mortal avatar. Bane was killed twice during this time and it seems as if the weakling still has not recovered from this shock. So he's still loath to make one, but actually he has nothing to fear from losing one. |
