I have a gnome that I'm thinking might specialize in alchemistry (if the DM ever lets the campaign slow down enough to let me set up my lab).

Does anyone know where I can find information on "oil of impact" and other interesting alchemical (as opposed to magical) substances. Oil of impact is mentioned in some Forgetten Realms books I've seen. Does wizards have a good book for alchemistry? I need to find out costs, components etc.

Oil of Impact is from 2e and it was a magical potion - so it goes to figure that a 3.5 version would also be a magical potion and would require the Brew Potion feat.

As for requirements - I would say CL 10 and the spell fireball would be a good way to go. I would allow a potion like this to be applied to like 12 arrows, 6 daggers, 3 long sword, or 1 great sword (just examples). damage wize, I would say that it would add +d3 fire damage to a weapon and +d3 bludgeoning damage for each dose applied to arrows, d4's for daggers, d6's for swords, and d10 for large weapons. Weapons would take as much damage as it dealt - which would destroy more weapons. A whole potion used as a gernade-like weapon would deal 5d4 fire damage and 5d4 bludgeoning.

Hope my idea helps you out.
