| Dargoth09-18-03, 07:38 PM | I dont know about you guys but I find the 3ed Magic item creation abit stale. All you have to do is cast spells X Y and Z hand over X amount of gold and dump some experience. When I played 1ed/2ed I used to have a system where my PCs could create Magic items from parts of monsters for example a Potion of regeneration could be made from the blood of a troll or a Cloak of Displacement could be made from the Coat of a Displacer beast now these items could not be used straight away they would have to be processed after the adventure Personally I found this to be a far more interesting way to create magi items. Comments? Has anyone seen rules for this in a D20 book? |
| Azeem Hesaad09-18-03, 08:04 PM | When a player in my game can inventively enough find ingredients for a magic item such as aboleth brain fluid for a potion of waterbreathing, roc feather for a potion of flight or some such component then I will modify the cost of the item in question and knock off a few XP points too...though I don't solely rely on this method for the entire process. But, the idea of using foreign agents is well met. |
