An FR/Dragonlance campaign idea [Archive] - Wizards Community

In the Dragonlance setting

Talkesis (aka Tiamat?), managed to trick all the metalic dragons into going to sleep and then messed around with their eggs and created Draconians?

Eventually Talkesis was killed? and the Gods of Dragonlance where thrown out of the settings by Dragonlances version of AO?

In the FR

Tiamat got a huge divine boost out of being the enemy of Gilgream for Unthers population. But since Gilgreams death the number of Tiamats followers has started to wane. In the FR this is dangerous because a gods Divine rank is determined by the number of worshipers they have. So if this continues Tiamat may end up going back to being a Demi Power.

The FR/Dragonlance crossover

Now assuming that Talikesis was Tiamat, the FR Tiamat would know theres a heap of her followers milling around on Krynn a setting shes either dead or banned from, ie worshipers who are totally useless to her.

So Tiamat decides to trys to bring some of the Draconians to Faerun in order to boost the number of Worshipers she has. Considering Tiamats main stomping ground is the Old Empires, an area which is well known for bringing in large populations into Faerun ie the Kidnapping of the Untherites and the Mulan by the Imarski and the Portal that allowed the Grey orcs to into the Forgotten Realms and started the Orc gate war. So she uses these old Imaski spells to open a Gate between Krynn and the FR and gets maybe a couple of thousand Draconians to come through the gate.

Coments? Suggestions?

10-24-03, 10:59 AM Tiamat aint Taksis but if she were as she could be in you own campaign, it would be a good campaign hook
for adventurers to try and find out why Tiamat has had a sudden increase in power, and what the hell these draconian things are anyway.
plus funding out the powers of the draconians at the point of death could be interesting for the adventurers
"Damn my swords stuck (as the other 30 or so Draconians approach)"
run away without that brand new +10 sword of kill anything.

10-24-03, 09:13 PM From what I read, Tiamat and Takhisis are aspects of one another. I think I read something about some Gods have multiple personalities in different planes, I think it was in the FRCS. Tiamat and Takhisis were supposed to be two aspects of the same god. Anyways, if you read the latest Dragonlance Trilogy, you will have found out that Takhisis actually STOLE Krynn from the other gods. They found it after awhile. It was an interesting read and I am not going to reveal everything. Anyway, that sounds pretty good. I am actually getting ready to go back to Ansalon during the War of the Lance. Should be pretty interesting. You got a good idea, run with it man.

10-25-03, 08:05 AM Takhisis and Tiamat are two different beings and independed of each other.

They are just very similar, since one of them was created after the other (the author liked the existing deity and decided to create a similar deity for his own setting).

10-25-03, 11:17 PM Ok, if that explanation makes you feel better. It's his game, and its not like if he runs it counter to your beliefs in the rules the world's going to end. If you have the 2nd Edition Faiths And Avatars, read page 14, it'll explain it all.

Actually you need to read Powers&Pantheons as well, since it gives the true story about this incident mentioned in F&A.

That it the being the adventures encountered and killed was the avatar of Tiamat and not Takhisis.

Tiamat and Takhisis are two different beings. Takhisis is a greater goddess and Tiamat is a lesser goddess (and for some time even was reduced to being only a demigoddess after spending much energy slayin Gilgeam)

Also check On Hallowed Grounds which has a tables with every D&D deities on page 172-182 and lists Tiamat and Takhisis as two different deities.
