Just like The Redeemers of Dawn Thread (which no one posted on here, just Candlekeep), I'm trying to come up with another special-group. This one involves Selune.

Basically it's a group of men and women, ranging from lythancropes to whatever. It's a group of men and women that was born under the Full Moon and are offered the chance to be in this group known as Selune's Tear. I think for the most part, they're Warrior/Cleric and the guard certain things, what I don't know for sure (something I'd like help with)

Does anyone have any thoughts, suggestions and ideas for this? Cause I'm kinda stumped when it comes to Selune's Tears unlike The Redeemers of Dawn.

There's the New Moon Pact, which featured in the novel Mistress of the Night.

The NMP (before the chaos of the Heresy -- also detailed in the novel) was an ancient order of priests and warriors who acted in Selune's service throughout much of the north and west of the Realms. They were never large, but they were an old group. They gained signiicant power and wealth through the years, while basically answering to no temple or clerical hierarchy. It is said the the NMP handled the "dark deeds" for the church... deeds that were never spoken of in the open. They were defenders and avengers working against the interests of larger temples. They embraced werewolves and lycanthropes of all knds. Because of this, the rest of the church feared the order.

Wait...are you saying that rest of Selune's Churched feared this group? This order? Because they did the 'dark deeds'?

I think this group almost fits how I see this...almost.

The new Champions of Valor book also introduces two new Selune organizations (let me just say that the new Selune info made the book worth while for me), any way they are the Order of the Crescent Moon (a paladin order) and the Swords of the Lady (including clerics, druids, rangers, and mystic wanderers)...not to forget the Order of the Blue Moon/Knight of the Blue Moon from City of Splendors...there are a few other orders such as I recall seeing something about Moonknights that were also referred to as "Lunatics".

Yes, I thought that the Valor book might be of some use...but so is the evil ones so hey.

Thanks for giving me their names :)

Not only that, the fact that the NMP didn't answer to any one clerical structure made it difficult for the Church of Selune to control them or direct their operations. As such, the NMP often carried out these "deeds" without the express authority of church leaders.

And yet Selune allowed them (and still today) to exist under her banner?

I don't want to say too much more about it... a) because of the Novels ruling here, and b) it will likely spoil the central plot of the book for you.

I would suggest you read it for yourself. Plus, Mistress of the Night provides some real insight into the inner workings of the Church of Selune... and that type of information can only be a benefit for your idea here.

If you're interested in learning more about Selune's church it is a must read.

Of course, of course! Any information I can drag out of Selune, Lathander and Chauntea is a must for me. Never know what I'll be able to throw into the Triangle of Three Campaign, because you know: "CotSQ has nothing on me!" ;)
