In the FRCS it says that Szass Tam is a Nec10/Red10/Acm2/Epic7. While I know what the first three are, I must admit that I am completely ignorant about the meaning of this "Epic class", that he has seven levels of. Could anyone enlighten me on this issue.

it stands for epic wizard.

It's not like the normal epic level handbook wizard, but some sort of FR mix.

The FRCS handbook came out before the Epic Level Handbook was finished, so it uses a prototype system to describe these epic characters. In the ELH, Szass Tam is given updated stats; he is a Necromancer 10/Red Wizard 17/Archmage 2.

Szass Tam is also statted out in the Epic Level Handbook (as a CR 31) along with other NPC's of Faerun.

Yes, I know, but I was unsure about which version was the correct one. Could have just checked the dates of course, but I wasn't wondering about Szass Tam's stats, I was wondering what the class Epic was. Now I know.
