Looks like they've got adventures going on Silver Marches style, and looks like a lot of good lore material in the early chapters as well, really looking forward to this book, and the details of the various "serpent kingdoms" (come on Hlondeth!).

Actually, I am just wondering about the FR-ness of the product....

It seems that, from day one, they have marketted the product as being useful for other settings as well and I wonder if they are not actually packaging an multi-world product as a FR product to improve its selling value...

Do not understand me wrong: I am interested in the product (I even have pre-ordered it even), but I am a bit unsure about the relevance of calling this a FR source book. It seems to be a very general book about all things with scales, end of the story.

Of course, I did not read the book yet and might be wrong... I am just expressing a doubt.

And anyway I am excited about having a book about "all things with scales", so I look forward to receiving it! :)

Ed wrote part of it, Eric wrote part, we can sure it's a Realms book. But like the other recent sourcebooks it's certainly doing double duty as a D&D book too, and is being sold both ways -- the geographical chapter, frinstance, is just one chapter, but on the other hand it's, we hope, a long one. (And I noted again the 'In the Realms' notation for the monsters, as if that's a special case.)

Well this is of course an element that counts: if Ed is on-board... I'll suspend my judgement till I get the book! :)

The new info on the Sarrukh sounds interesting to me...

Hey guys.

I'm glad the stuff you saw in the latest In the Works has got you excited about the book.

Rest assured that Serpent Kingdoms is an FR book from page one all the way to page one hundred ninety-two. (With a layover in chapter seven for a tour of Hlondeth and several other "Realms of the Serpentfolk.")

I just wanted to make sure that non-FR-playing folk out there get the idea that just because it says Forgotten Realms on the cover doesn't mean that just about all of the stuff inside wouldn't work (without any changes) in any other campaign--whether they're playing in Greyhawk, Eberron, DL, or a homebrewed campaign setting.

As Bocklin pointed out, the book offers a lot of information about "all things with scales." That's what makes it useful to everyone.

It's all the other information about what the scalykind are up to (and where) that really nestles Serpent Kingdoms into the Forgotten Realms. (And between Ed, Eric, and Darrin, you can be sure that it's FR through and through.)

You can look for a little more insight into the sarrukh in next month's In the Works, but you'll have to flip through the book to find out all the stuff that really makes them disturbing to have lurking in the shadows of Faerun.

Like I wasn't going to buy it already. Nice to know we don't have to worry about Realmslore.

They had me at hello.

I already have, and have had money set aside for this book since about the time they said they were going to make it. :)
