"Where Do I Go From Here?" [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-15-05, 03:40 PM [FONT=Century Gothic]I have a party that has been working for my favorite created character, a drow named "Lessonar Abylon", 4th Fighter, 4th Rouge, 8th Sorc, 4th Fleshcrafter, however the party isn't real fond of working for him, but they have no choice right now, currently they are exploring the underdark under Thay, I just don't really know what they are there for, the party and myself lost some focus along the way. Any idea's on ways I could have my fun and get the party back on track? Anything would be a big help.

07-15-05, 03:47 PM There is always the old "someone's been cursed/poisoned and the only place that can cure them is <insert plot hook for where you want them to go that will also re-attach themselves into your overall plot>".

Basically, you need to have a place/person that will re-associate them with the main plot (once they get there). This can happen due to talking to the person or finding clues in their lair about the main plot that can pull them back in. Perhaps this person is a knowledgable sage. Or they own something that can help the party. The party needs to go talk to or slay this person/place to accomplish the short term goal. While they are there, the main plot comes up somehow and refreshes the party. In fact, if there is some sort of trouble or urgency involved, it will suck them in faster.

07-15-05, 04:56 PM Just being under thay and exploring is one way to go but as for why you are there, there are around 10 major underground Citys in the murky underground depths of thay.
Here is a possible scenario for ya, mabey the group needs to go to.....mmm....say Underek'Thoz, an undeground metropolis, where the party has to go to acuire some rare (somthing or other) and the party has to avoid becomming someing for sale them selves because the local poplulation is not the niceest bunch.
Or.....
The ancients that used to live in the area..... might have left somthing behind... especially since ancient thay sat on the southern border of Narfell!!! who knows what they may have "dropped" down in the depths. OR Centaurs Used to Rule the area above, mabey there is an Ancient burial that has somthing of Value there!!

Just some Ideas for you.

07-25-05, 08:02 AM You could always have them research some mysterious race as a recuuring threat. Say the Desmoto. That's what Kale was sent for. ;)
