| Capn Charlie01-23-04, 03:29 AM | My campaign is currently taking place around the "liberation" of Unther. To help me out, and to let all you fans of the kingdom pitch in to help your nation I am requesting stats of Mulhorandi npcs. After liberating the people of Unther and bringing the light of Pharaoh Horustep III to them they have done the unthinkable. The sons of jackals have enlisted help of the traitorous Red wizards, and even hired inhuman mercenaries from afar with tainted crimson gold! They mean to not only tyrranize the now joyous people of southern unther but also mean to lead conquest against our homeland! Shussel has fallen, their legions now march innexorably towards south! Come forth, let us show the world the might of of our rightousness! -Warpriest Ramas Sepret, 8th of Mirtul 1373 Whether villain, PC, npc, novel character, whatever you have! Feel free to make use of any 3e product as I have dang near all of em! If your character has a love for his native land then post it here! Just a couple of suggestions :w: Heroes are great, but don't neglect lower levels! Commoner leveled slaves signing on for promises of freedom and glory, 1-3 leveled legions, 12th level commanders, 4-8th level clerics. :w: Background stories are good! Be it a single paragraph or a summation of a beloved characters adventuring career, I can use all of it! :w: I use the War Magic spells from Dragon 309 so chuck in a couple of war magic usin' priests of anhur, along with your favorite homebrew spells. :w: Got any homebrew, pointers, or suggestions, heck evenshort stories you wrote set in the region, I am all ears. Well, care to help out me and by proxy Mulhorand? |
| Savras01-23-04, 08:16 AM | Hrrmmm.... I have a Mulhrandish Char, but it is focused on fighting Seth... if you think you could adept her, tell me. Nah, I'll just post him and let you decide, K? Also, I might invent something new for you :) Born in 1343, Amun Ankhalb is a member of the Ankhalb noble family, of Mishtan. His father is a high ranking priest of Osiris, and wanted his only son to go in his path. Amun, however, had no wish to dedicate his life to the Judge of the Dead, and instead learned to fight. Out of necessity he chose to use the whip, for his father got him a job as a slave-manager. In 1358, when he was 15, Amun (by then an adult in the eyes of society) dealt with a small yet highly organized slave revolt- the result of a Thayan Red Wizard who wanted to get up in the hierachy and had to test some spells. Of course, the added profit of gaining some slaves and attacking hated Mulhorand (he had a disagreement with a Mulhorandi paladin that had left him without an eye and with scarred face) just made it sweeter. In the attack, the Red Wizard (Orbin Dath-Aruk) gained no less than 30 slaves, stole quite a bit of wheat, a wagon, two oxes… and one guard- Amun. Orbin, being an Enchanter, immidiatly crushed Amun’s psyche and turned him into a willing slave, bodygaird, torturer, and, infact, all-around servant. Among Amun’s duties were to handle the slaves and to kill Orbin’s enemies. For that purpose Orbin created a whip just for his pet*. As a believer of Set, the god who is after the blood of the rest of the Mulhorandi pantheon, Orbin sees the snakes, and especially the Cobra, as a sacred animal. His gift to his pet was just a part of a set- the rest of the set is allowing Amun to shave his entire body and tatoo a snake on his head (his circle, the symbol of Freeman status in Mulhorand, is now the cobra’s open mouth). Amun soon got the nickname “Cobra”, and started reffering to his whip (then a slightly magical Whip-Dagger) as Oajit, a legendery cobra. In 1363, after a few succesful assinations and after saving Orbin’s life several times Amun was finally freed from the magic that clouded his thoughts. This happened when a rival of Orbin’s cast a spectacular spell that negated all magic in Orbin’s tower. While permanent enhancements returned after a while, that while was enough for Amun to kill his vile master and start ruining the tower. When the enemy (Amun never found his name out) arrived to take the spoils, he found Amun leaving, and smole rising from what was Orbin’s libarery and lab. Enraged, the Red Wizard fought Amun personnaly, and left him for dead (which wasn’t far from the truth- Amun was dieing at the time). Amun’s body, with what little spirit it still had, was found several hours later by a group of adventurers who came to kill Orbin Dath-Aruk as a revenge for his usage of Enchanment spells one of their member’s sister. Oajit was wraped around him, the dweomer that made it attack him long expired. The group (“The Hare’s Foot”) nursed him to life, and, learning that he killed Orbin, helped him flee Thay back into Mulhorand. There he reunited with his family, though the strains from his hatred to all Arcane magic and his mother and sisters all being mages made it difficult for him to stay home for long periods of time. He traveled about Mulhorand, chasing grave-robbers and arcane spellcaster who were outlawed due to their evil use of the Arcane Arts and became a rather devout Osirisan. After rendering a great service to the church (stopping a group of setites who were trying to emulate their god by killing all Osirisan priests and beleivers in the area and defileing his temples) he was awarded with Apep’s Scales, a scale mail whose scales are shaped like those of a snake. Apep’s Scales is made of Admantine and is higly enhanced by magic, protecting it’s wearer from acid.** By this time, Amun’s prowess with the whip was legendery, as was his hatred of Arcane spellcaster and efficiency in killing them. Amun understood, after several enemies escaped via teleports, that magic was needed to fight magic, and so he tolerates good and responsible magic users (though he still dislikes them). After killing a mage who came to recover the setite relic, he decided to use whatever means he could to hunt down setites- both to avenge the humilation of his god and because Set is the god of evil magic, everything Amun hates. He thus took from the mages body the Ring of the Springing Adder, which grants it’s wearer incredible agility and allows him to escape unscathed from some calamities (the ring is of course shaped like a snake, poised to spring). Since he had little use for the mage’s other possesions, he sold them to a the scholars in Gheldaneth, who gave him in return the Serpent Eating it’s Tail (a ring shaped like a snake eating it’s tail), which is (they claimed) a symbol of perfection, of one creature that contains the entire cosmos, and, most important to Amun, a powerful symbol of defense. Though they never mentioned in which culture, this ring does carry powerful protective enhancements. Besides, as his sister Arizima told him with a smile, “It fits your snake motif”. By then (1368), a group of setites strated to threaten the east of Mulhorand, and also send an assasin after Amun. Amun heard of the assasin’s arrival from a divination of a thothite, and fled to Gheldaneth, were he and his sisterArizima decided to hunt down these setites, and keep a sharp eye for the assasin. Amun used some of his wealth to buy a scarab that would protect him from poison, boots that will lend him great speed and gloves that would enable him to catch incoming missiles, in case the assasin would catch him unaware. Amun and Arizima found the lair of the setites very fast- after one day of searching. In the battle that ensused, Amun found who the assasin was- Arizima. However, Arizima had underestimated her brother’s unique abilities, and when a Ray of Disintigration was rebounded at her, she died screaming, by her own magic. Amun then proceded to clear the lair with a rage rarely seen, and (with the aid of the Shifting Sand, an adventuring group) succeded in clearing the lair and killing all setites, bar the leader, who escaped, but not before informing Amun Arizima had a clone and that she will come for him again, someday in the future. Amun paid the Shifting Sand most of everything they have found, but kept the Python’s Embrace (a belt that grants the wearer the strength that enables a python to crush his pray) and a cloak of snake-scales that protects it’s wearer from calamities. Now (1372) Amun resides in Mishtan, resting and trying to plan against his sister’s revenge. His father, Kehur, is now an elderly man who is the 4th in command in the Osirisan temple. His mother, Nephis, is a powerful wizard and stays at home, conducting arcane research. His second sister, Murithi, helps their mother in her research and is a powerful spellcaster in her own right. They all know of Arizima’s treachery and are willing to fight her, if she ever show her face around the house, Mishtan, or their beloved Empire. Amun’s Friends and Allies: Amun is well loved in the east of Mulhorand and in several villiges in the rest of it, for he helpd them repell setites. He is in good connections with the Shifting Sand, an adventuring party, and can call on them (with a slight pay) at any time (though he still owes them a favour). The churches of Osiris, Anhur and Horus-Re like him for his fight against Set, and are likely to be sympathetic for his requestes. Enemies: The Church of Set, Arizima. Other than these, he is disliked by many mages for his hatred to all arcane magic. *: The whip-dagger is shaped like a snake, with the dagger looking like a cobra’s head and the rest of the whip being the tail. The whip hisses with each strike. For more about it, see the character sheet. **Apep’s Scale is an ancient magical item, created by a dwarven smith of yore for Khepri, a powerful Setite. Khepri then enhanced it and gave it to his trusted friend and ally, Thazar. Thazar wore it for several decades, and gained the nickname “the Red” for his many murders. When the Church of Nephthys finally caught him for the numerus children he murdered, Apep’s Scales (named after an obscure and legendery serpent) was auctioned and sold to one Bareris of the Four Blades, a mercenery who was lost in the Underdark. Apep’s Scales was in the armoury of House Xael’Verrin in the city of Menzobarranzen, but given to a fiend as payment for services. The fiend was killed by a group of adventurers in 1340, and when they returend to their home in Waterdeep they brought it with them. A visitor from Mulhorand bought the armour and donated it to the churhc of Osiris (to cover for her extravagent funeral), who then gifted it to Amun in 1367. | Capn Charlie01-23-04, 09:58 AM | This is just the kind of thing I'm looking for. I was considering having the untherites ally with Settites, in hope that Anhur would clash with(and lose) against the god of war northern mercenaries will bring. With a great counterpiece like this I will probably end up having the Fangs of Set ally with unther late in the war, and Amun and co. would be likely to oppose them. I am assuming the classes are Lasher and occult Slayer? By the way, what program do you use to do character stats on? It looks pretty sharp. Th:) |
