| Parcival, the OrcHunter12-10-05, 02:24 AM | Inspired by the Elminster/Seven Sisters movie, I decided to post another idea. Lots of Drizzt fanboys/girls out there have been clamoring for a movie, who'd be good for it? (if anyone suggests Bloom for Drizzt I'll come after you) I like to see... Drizzt: Zak: Wesley Snipes Jarlaxle: Johnny Depp Montolio: Catti-Brie: Bruenor: Wulfgar: we'd need someone like Ah-nold in his prime (i.e. Conan w/ a hammer) Entreri: Colin Farrel (or my freshman english teacher...) Regis: Dantrag: |
| GothicDan12-10-05, 02:30 AM | Drizzt movie ideas have been brought up about 5 times more often than any other sorts. |
| Cainan12-10-05, 02:41 AM | I can tell you right now, any Drizzt movie that isn't animated, would be a total disaster. It would make an excellent animated movie. Just look at the little sketched clip that was posted on the "Heroes of Mithril Hall" thread or whatever it was. That was great. But a live action Drizzt movie would get butchered. |
| Parcival, the OrcHunter12-10-05, 03:02 AM | I agree with you both. Yes, this is brought up too much, way too much Drizzt stuff (but he is wotc's FR posterboy). And yes, it would be a disaster if not animated... But come on, Depp as Jarlaxle? Can it be beat? |
| Parcival, the OrcHunter12-10-05, 03:03 AM | Double Post |
| Cainan12-10-05, 07:19 AM | What I want to know is, why do people keep wanting to cast people of African descent as drow? They look nothing like drow. They have totally different bone structure. Just cause their skin is dark doesn't mean they're drow. Drow have obsidian skin. Even though Mr. Snipes is quite dark, he's not drow dark. Drow, if anything, resemble something of an asian/western european crossbreed in physical appearance with obsidian skin. |
| LucyWanabe12-10-05, 08:38 AM | Yes, that's how I always thought that ALL elves looked like--Asian/Caucasian features mixed together. Drow would be no exception, no matter if their skin is gray, blue, purple, or obsidian. |
| Lord Karsus12-10-05, 11:25 AM | Drizzt has a comicbook...Isn't that good enough? |
| Cainan12-10-05, 06:03 PM | I think an anime series for Drizzt would go over pretty well. People tend to like Drizzt. He fits the role of hero really well and if you put him in an animated series where he could pull off some really cool, acrobatic stuff, it would be pretty nice. I don't really see it happening, but you never know. |
| WVgamer12-10-05, 06:34 PM | I actually think The Companions of the Hall would make a good CGI movie, something like WotC did Scourge of the World, only with a better story and no interactivity. |
| bobsan12-12-05, 11:58 AM | I, for one, would enjoy seeing a Live Realms movie. As long as it's done right and by those who know both the setting and the general feel of D&D (Like the second D&D move which, IMO, was 10x better than the first...as far as made for TV movies with low budgets go). If you get a great script (and included the author in the writing (unlike the horrid Wizard of Earthsea movie)), got a great effects crew (WETA. Who else?), and good actors, I beleive it could be done. I'll also admit I'm in the camp for those wanting to see a Drizzt movie, though maybe not for the exact same reasons others might be. First off, I like the character. Not in a "Drizzt-the-all-powerful can beat up everyone in the realms, stat-mongering" sort of way. I like the character as a character. I've enjoyed all of the Drizzt series I've read thusfar (mostly ^_^) and have enjoyed travelling alongside ALL of those characters. Plus, what character is, in all honesty, is the most popular in the Realms? I would imagine, for most people who know even jst a little of the realms, Drizzt would probably be one of the first things that come to mind. Of course, I'd love to see other books/characters in movies as well (Come on Knights of Myth Drannor!). Heck even an original Realms movie would tickle me pink. |
| Rauric12-12-05, 12:16 PM | Why not have original characters set in the FR world? That would interest me more even though I like the games famous NPCs. |
| Parcival, the OrcHunter12-12-05, 05:24 PM | My justification for Snipes as Zak: Blade |
| primemover00312-12-05, 05:40 PM | Well if someone were to do Drizzt, my choice might be Mark Dacascos (Brotherhood of the Wolf), an Excellent Martial Artist. I could quite easily see Cary Hiruki Tagawa as a Drow (Rising Sun, Planet of the Apes, Mortal Kombat). |
| Cainan12-12-05, 08:43 PM | My justification for Snipes as Zak: Blade Snipes is old now though. He's starting to show it, and he's also way too big. Not even counting all the other physical features that look nothing like drow. You're far better off actually casting a REAL great martial artists and swordmaster than a guy who has played one in a movie a few times. That way the fighting will look even better. |
| Ranger REG12-13-05, 03:55 AM | (if anyone suggests Bloom for Drizzt I'll come after you) :fight!: Oh, yeah. I'd like to see you try. (Even though I don't think it's an appropriate to cast Bloom as Drizzt.) Five years ago, I would have given a thumbs up to Wesley Snipes as Drizzt. |
| Inspired_Mage12-13-05, 03:59 AM | Inspired by the Elminster/Seven Sisters movie, I decided to post another idea. Regis: Dantrag: Funny, my brother and i had the exact same discussion the other night and we also came up with Johnny Depp as Jaraxle, nobody better I think. Foe Zak, I agree that ol' Wes is far to big for the role, but who could play him, I actually dont know. For Drizzt, i think someone else on another post said Jude Law, which could work very well, and although you may come after me now but Orlando would also be good. :D For Entreri, I disagree with Farrel, I think Antonio Banderas would be an ideal choice for that role, or maybe Rufus Sewell from A Knights Tale For Wulfgar, if The Rock could pass as a blond man and they can use cinema tricks to make him appear taller (if they can do it for hobbits + dwarves then why not large men?) Regis- more type casting but Sean Astin? Cattie-Brie - Mia Kirshner Bruenor - I honestly cannot think who could do this, i think dwarves are the hardest to cast until you see them in costume. |
