Archery Question [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-31-03, 06:32 PM I know that this more of a general role-playing question. . .but I usually only read the FR posts.

Anyways. . .if you shoot into a melee (I know about the -4 penalty) is there a chance that you will hit a person you are not aiming for? For example, one of your party who is currently engaged in mortal hand-to-hand combat.

I am pretty sure I have read something about this before, but I can not remember where.

If you could, please reference your answer. I am also interested in any house-rules for the same situation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

08-31-03, 07:33 PM only if the person you are aiming for is behind the other person. In which case they are granted cover. If you fail to hit due to cover you hit the other person instead.

09-01-03, 12:42 AM Also if you felt generous, you could just say that on a critical failure you hit a friend.
